besides those pvc tubes on an older van with a post type awning has anyone got a good idea how to carry the poles on the van .......i dont have all of them in a tube as they wont fit ...........
I set up a bigger tube on my old van. It was a 6 inch oversize sewage pipe, so really an 8 inch pipe, to carry all our poles. It also carried my fishing rods. So if you can fit a larger pipe, do that or otherwise , get another the same size as the one you have and strap it on top of existing.

will look at another tube as ours are behind the wheels underneath ....will see if anymore ideas come forth to ......
My Jayco Westport has an open chassis crossmember at the front. I fitted home made caps for it and carry a couple of rarely used poles in it. My main pole & collapsible ladder carrier is the usual 100mm sewerage pipe across the rear bumper.
BTW, I also carry spare sullage & water hoses inside the open chassis members that run lengthways.
i picked up at the tip recycle shop a steel tray its 6 foot long 4 inches wide and 3 inches deep dont know what it was used for but .........i have mounted it on the rear of the van just above the water and sump hose ......it will how hold the poles for trips away ...thanks all for some ideas its now solved ...........

Well, they are to store all the poles, and of course, there are the arms, that one needs to install the annex.
We also carry two shades that can also be extended to the on and offside of the rig to give us more space when we bush camp. this then requires more poles.
our rig has plenty of room under the van to install pole carriers.
Just need to think outside the square or outside the nine dots.

Now, if you use PVC 'Pipes' wouldn't they be round and not as you say above "square" Mate, you know I'm easy confused

tea spoon, I actually carry my poles and awning anti flap kit stored in 100mm PVC pipes fitted in the canopy of the Collie. They just make the length in the half sections. It keeps the weight out of the aluminium teepee.
Thought I would mention it as an option for you.
