Storage with Lithium Batteries

Hi guys, please can some brain wave out there, tell me if I will have issues with storing my caravan with the solar charging the 2 x Lithium batteries, keeping them at 100%. I am told a number of things, like, : I should disconnect them when in storage for more than a month, another says, leaving them fully charge (constantly) while not drawing down on them is not good and will shorten their life spans.. Another says, its fine....    Can anyone out there with a good background in batteries please give some good advice.... Not that I am saying all the others were not good advice, but I need to be sure what i am doing here...

Best treatment is to discharge them to about 70% SOC and then disconnect all loads and charge sources.

As said above.

Lithium is the opposite of lead acid. Don't store them fully charged & don't keep topping them up.

An interesting discussion that got me thinking & doing a quick bit of google research.

I found a comment on a commercial & relatively recent 'US Chemical Storage' site     https://www.uschemicalstorage.com/how-to-store-lithium-batteries/

 Nickel and lithium-ion batteries should be stored at around 40% state of charge.

Fortunately for my peace of mind it also says that Lead Acid batts should be stored at 100% as I have always been told.

Other related sites also stated 40% too as does 'The Battery Guy'

I'm not suggesting that 70% is wrong but note the difference.  What's your source Peter?

Given that I'm unlikely to go down the Lithium Iron path it is only of passing interest to me.

edit .. I've just got to stop doing this .. Just had a look at another site before I deleted the search and got this confusing (to me anyway) article from a manufacturer  https://dakotalithium.com/2018/12/14/how-to-store-a-12v-lithium-battery/

I doubt if 40% or 70% makes much difference, just avoid "full" or "empty".
That Dakota mob are out on their own.

I would be inclined to use Peter's higher value simply because the natural self discharge plus the extra discharge due to internal bms can reach 5% per month so more than 50% leaves a bit more leeway
