if you don't vote you shouldn't really complain about who runs the state/country should you

I can't bring myself to vote for someone just because I despise them the least. Voting for a particular candidate implies that you trust them to honour those pledges that influenced your decision. If they don't follow through on their promises, then they have defrauded me of my vote. Whitlam gave me something to believe in, Hawke kept the flame alive for a while, and then Keating snuffed it out. When he came to power, that was the end for me.

As for criticising the performance of an elected official, I'm obliged and entitled to do that whenever they deserve it.

Thats easy to say when you have a small population and no where near the travel requirements of Vic and NSW. Being isolated from the Eastern seaboard has been a huge help..  I seriously doubt that the 80% figure bandied about will not suffice if we want to try and get back to normal

WA will be stuffed if the government stops all the trucks from the east feeding them.

Correct whenarewethere, And the eastern states will be financially stuffed well and truly if we in WA cannot continue our mining activities and keeping the East from going broke biggrin.

As we are currently doing. Along with our over contribution of GST.

I sure feel sorry for the sensible folks in the East, particularly in NSW. You certainly have a high percentage of morons over there.

So yes the Premier's (in particular the stupid NSW Premier) should take a leaf out of Mark McGowan's book. What a shameful record she has.

what is WA share of gst money

A bloody sight more than it should be Cobber. I was referring to our contribution. And how much the less productive states leach from it.

You stay safe. Cheers

 You are absolutely correct.

Elected officials have a moral responsibility to protect the population and McGowan is the one who is doing his absolute best to achieve this.

These people aren't elected to *look after their mates*. Unfortunately the majority of them make the decisions which covertly achieves a desired result and then they cover their action with *spin* to the gullible public.

Mark McGowan stood up to Palmer and his circus and won. He makes hard but sensible, well informed decisions to protect West Australians.

Mark McGowan should be the head of the country

Funny you should say that, Dorian

Not many people know that Mark McGowan, was born and raised in Newcastle NSW.

He went to public schools in NSW, and then went to a university in QLD, long before he came to WA

I for one (an Australian living in WA), appreciate that he has kept WA, safe so far

Oh  .. based on that he is eligible to play for Qld in SOO.   I knew that there was something good about him.  He is a Queenslander.

The Tertiary training is the most important bit, hey.     LOL

As a Victorian, lock-downs are a part of life.... frustratingly so! Still, I can see the sense in it, particularly in light of NSW's situation atm. We feel for them, having been through it all before, so no schadenfreude from me: just best wishes.

I wonder if the 'blame game' is just a release of frustration for everyone. Seems that you can satisfy yourself and simplify the problem by finding a scapegoat - generally a politician/s. Probably, the truth is that we are dealing with a phenomenon that has caught us all hopping. It's catch-up from here on. McGowan has a fair bit in his favour (apart from slapping down Palmer[enthusiastic applause]!), and that is the relative isolation that WA has. Even so, a great job, well done.

The walls are closing in on me and it looks like another fortnight before we get parole. Absolutely aching to get out in the bush after having three big trips cancelled in rapid succession.

Stay safe all.

Totally agree. If you don't vote then shut up about any  issue you have with how the country is run or what pollies are doing.  Not voting means you are part of the problem.

Clive Palmer hasn't gone away, still planning on suing WA over lockdowns, someone's going to drop him eventually.

I would have thought that WA does need tourism and last I knew, was 'still' part of AUSTRALIA, can they do without it for a very long term or, the way Gladys is now talking, 'forever,...I could be wrong but I seriously think not.

From a news article today.....

Current numbers from NSW show of the 66 people in ICU, 59 are not vaccinated and seven have had one dose. No one currently in ICU or requiring ventilation has been fully vaccinated.

I think that is pretty much the situation around the world.

I,m sure it is.  I just wish the naysayers would wake up to themselves and realise that in the not too distant future it will be the unvaccinated that will be the ones who may not be around for too long..
