Well then, that didn't work

Well, the Qld Govt has pulled a 3 day lockdown due to Delta strain Covid in the community around Brisbane.

Apparently eleven local govt areas are now in hard lockdown.

This has thrown the NRL and the AFL into total disarray.

The NRL has been told that they are all to return to their respective gotels and stay there until further notice.

The AFL have cancelled 3 games scheduled for venues in Brisbane.

One can only imagine the thousands of small businesses that are affected by this current lockdown.

The report is that this outbreak got out into the community from someone returning from overseas who was in quarantine.

In my mind this is getting beyond a joke. Surely an international border closure is imperative if we are going to be able to keep businesses trading within Australia.

When you think about it, one single self entitled traveller has now bought a whole city and 11 LGAs to its knees.

Lets not forget the complete state of  NSW, areas in VIC and SA as well.

I just do not believe that the people that are responsible for our well being are so complacent by permitting high risk travellers from overseas into our country.

Even if some are coming in without the infection, they are then getting it while in Quarantine, being released and then spreading it amongst innocent Australian citizens.

Should this be tolerated?

Just get the bloody vaccine everyone.

The Astrazenica vaccine is fine - less chance of dying than being hit by lightning. Millions of Brits have had it and seem to be surviving.

At the average age of users to this site Covid may well kill you.

Get the bloody vaccine.

The only way the government could get quarantine to work was when the people in quarantine didn't have anything.

It was a house of cards, or rather, a hotel of cards!

Hotels were never meant to be quarantine centres, however, Howard Springs is, Christmas Island is, Nauru is, what is that one in Sydney?

What is wrong with milatary bases, they were good enough when we bought Bosnian refugees here quite a few years ago

Howard Springs is a remote workers camp in the Northern Territory repurposed as a coronavirus quarantine facility.

The facility is a disused workers camp about 25 kilometres south of the Darwin CBD. It has been owned by the NT Government since 2019 and had been sitting vacant, costing the government millions of dollars in annual maintenance. At the start of the pandemic, in February 2020, it was used to house Australians who had been evacuated from Wuhan.

Howard Springs isnt very remote, is central to a lot of suburbs and has a very nice caravan park there too.

Directly opposite the Howard Springs camp is the Darwin correctional facility.

Quarantine , should be for 4 weeks, they have proved, that people stay for the 2 weeks, leave and within 3 days, have the virus, and it should be in a Federal Facility, at government expense. Then it would be less likely that people would balk at the cost.

you would think that after 18 or more months, the people in charge would a least get the quarantine part right. someone should be held accountable as all our problems are coming from overseas travelers and a reluctance to get vaccinated because of a few cases of side effects of the vaccine that is readily available .

I think that most of us know, that if you want quarantine, then hotels are not the place for it to happen

Hopefully, now that the leaders, have more or less agreed to have, dedicated quarantine buildings

They will all pull their fingers out, in a united effort, to quickly make it happen

As always, my thoughts are with those who are in lockdowns, and hopefully they can see the light at the end of the tunnel

by the time they get around to building dedicated quarantine centers, we should all have had the vaccine of choice and they will be almost obsolete

I think that is a very optimistic outlook. I really cannot see the need for decent quarantine centers becoming obsolete for some years yet, Vaccine or not.

what is wrong with Christmas Island - it was fine for the first plane load out of Wuhan, or have we forgotten that?

Try not to suggest a practical solution Trevor 57,

Heaven forbid asking self entitled overseas travellers with pockets full of money to be denied accomodation in 4 star hotels and locate them in any area that may actually be a practical solution to Quarantine.

The federal govt copped enough flack over placing Illegal Immigrants in those facilities, they would not have the balls to use those facilities for Quarantine. They are all thinking of the next election and to palm the responsibility of quarantining to the states is a handball that removes federal responsibility.

On a side note did anyone note the comment on caravan parks in Clarkys satirical video link above? Now, that would be interesting.

The bleeding heart political correct woke mob and the like will hate my vision.

You want to return to Australia, you have had ample time to return when over 12 months ago you were told get back quick, ok for whatever reason you choose not return it called Karma so suck it up princess, the only way you can return is for you to be fully vaccinated and every week prior to boarding a plane home (at your expense) you must have had a negative covid test minimum of 4 tests and then pass a rapid test prior to boarding the aircraft. On arrival in australia you must pass another covid test, you must then go into quatantine for 7 days where you will be tested daily. Fail one test in that 7 days then go into 21 days ina quarnttine facility.

Aircrews and airside handlers will have strict decontamination process before leaving the airport, likewise for all transport workers who transport crews and passengers, no one who work on the airport cannot leave with submitting to a decontamination process.

containment is the protocal.
