Left - Right - Left -Right, If Lefty is your position stick with the Tax payer funded "dribble" on the ABC. Or if being a Righty is your position, enjoy the "dribble" on Sky :)
Always good to have choices eh ;) Me, well I only have one say every few years at the Polling Booth, and use the rest of the time to enjoy myself.

I get all my news from this forum, more qualified to deliver the news, then anyone else out there, it may be a lot of just peoples opinion, but it is an opinion, of that days news, don't need to go anywhere else. HaHa.
I tried to give Sky a fair go, but it's not "news" and never will be news. It's just a continuous procession of opinion pieces by right wing talking heads, no doubt with Murdoch pulling the strings. I can't see any value for regional Australia.

Sky News Regional will no doubt take viewers from ABC regions.
No great loss. ABC is not focused on ratings. Plus all the smart viewers will quickly go back to the ABC. The ABC tends to report factual information so viewers can form their own opinions.

All news sources (except *maybe* the BBC) have a slant, one simply needs to understand that and filter appropriately.
I dont know how much time I have left so dont want to waste my remaining life filtering out the dross from a known source of dribble and conspiracy theories. I have actually tried to watch a couple of stories on Sky but they all failed logic (and my BS detector) within a couple of seconds. Not going to try again.

Whichever news source you favour it's probably best not to take everything it utters as gospel.

Yet another "global entity " censoring selectively, doesnt take long to forget the F Boo episode.
I do not agree with anti vaxers, but there have been many horrible things left up on both platforms, very sanctimonius
"Reporters" aren't much more than ratings propagators.
Fake News aptly describes their "profession" nowdays.
The whole world seems to have taken a very lamentable collapse
into a very sad place - don't know how the next generation will
ever enjoy the privileges and lifestyle we have enjoyed in the past.
Its only a news channel that's watch if you want. big deal.
ItS far from being a news channel. Its a business that makes money in direct relation to its ratings. Its track record in being able to influence the Not-so-smart and the lonely in the community makes it a big deal when it can be argued that the mis-information it puts out is indirectly responsible for some of the spread of infection in the community.

Thank Goodness we have people, such as Izabarack, with the wisdom to take the time and trouble to protect those of us, less able, from ourselves.
Mate: there is a big difference between you and I: I have strong opinions on many subjects and often voice them but I never think I have the God-like powers to tell others what they may view, read or think.

Mike, a point you make so well.
I can add, also, that every audio and video device has an on/off button or remote that changes channels.
Simple.

It's always good to listen to two or more opinions from various data sources about the many topics, and then be able to reinforce your own beliefs.
Governments do this every day with advisors.
The population does this just by flicking a switch.
This is how Democracy works....doesn't it?
I ask for opinions on numerous topics on this site to assist in project decision making. Perhaps you're right perhaps you're wrong but in the end I accept or reject what I consider useful.
And I always appreciate every opinion.

Yes, Sky has a strong right wing bias, even stronger than the left wing bias of ABC and others. Whatever your source, if you listen to opinion articles there is always some inflexion to portray the outlet's views. If you watch/read news, it is politically biased. If you don't believe it you have been indoctrinated.
My news routine in the mornings is to pick out articles to read from ABC, then Sky News, then news(.)com(.)au. Putting the political bias aside it's surprising how when I get to the third source how often there are still articles of interest that were not on the other two. Then in the evening I watch Al Jazeera and Fox News, and sometimes Euronews, again, just selecting the articles of interest. Those give a good balance of left, right, local and international viewpoints. You may have noticed on other threads that I have pasted some charts on COVID stats. I like to get the actual data myself if I can.
When one news outlet says one thing, and another outlet says the opposite, I like to find out what the truth actually is. So if it's siginficant enough maybe I will look around to see if I can find out where the truth really lies. While Sky is mostly opinion pieces, I have not found any that are factually incorrect. Opinions I disagree with yes, but not incorrect.
If you read/watch one source you miss out on so much.

Sky News hasn't been a proper news channel for a number of years. Long gone are the days when you used to be able to push a button while watching Sky News and get the latest updates from every capitol city across Australia, the weather, sports results etc.
I tend to lean towards the conservative side of politics but I no longer watch Sky News as it has gone so far right it makes me cringe, the ABC other than its news service seems to have a similar bias in the opposite direction. I actually get my daily updates from the Apple News App which gives access to all the worlds different news organisations, its amazing how many ways you can read the same report depending on who is doing the reporting....anyhow the good thing about living in this country is that you get to choose which channel you want to watch (or believe).

If my experience on this forum is any guide, it's evident that even us old folks are not well equipped to discern fact from fiction. Even those of us who know the truth may still prefer our own version of reality, so we filter out those information/disinformation sources that challenge our rigid mindsets.

Dorian thats 100% true but its not only 'us old folks' who are not well equiped to discern fact from fiction propaganda has been used since time began to sell different versions of the truth - which is probably obvious with whats been happening in the US during recent times..
The total media have a lot to answer for.
We hear very little good news, but lots of bad news which they think becomes good news.
As for FOX every night the Credlin,Bolt, Jones and Murray show all virtually cover the same news story.
The only good news these past couple of weeks has been Australia's excellent performance on the Olympics.
Oh!!! and the bad news re Co-vid has a little good news in it.
We have had our 2 A-Z and for us it should be mandatory so we get rid of these bloody lockdowns.
I really feel for all the private enterprise business and their staff.
A little off subject, but just my view.
