No Probs Brodie, I went in to the RAH at 6am, had the op at 1pm and discharged the next morning. Had no problem afterwards, I was told maybe more trips to the loo for number 2's because of the bile going through the liver but no such problem with me. I think I had around 5-6 staples which came out about three weeks later and I've had not one problem. Go for it, it's a lot better than getting that pain with stones!!
Depends on how long you leave it, i thaught it was indigestion for too long. Finished up infected went to the RAH & had it removed but was a week in hospital with damaged liver, lost 2Kg in weight. Was about 5 years ago & recovered fully. Just dont leave it too long.
Had mine out 8 weeks ago, two nights in hospital, no dramas except for loose movements still, have been told it is normal for a while. Keyhole surgery and no problem, staples came out before I went home on day two.
If you are having issues I would suggest don't muck around, get it out.

Had mine out last year via keyhole surgery. Didn't even know something was wrong until a blood test showed up something. In one day and out the next - no pain - wouldn't even know I had had it.

although in retrospect I could have worded my title better - I was a
bit hesitant to say what I am about to write lest I get the usual
protractors that don't help any and unless there was someone out
there in GN land that might benefit from my experience I wasn't going
to take it further - ie an earlier post re Omeprazole and the likes.
I had my gall bladder out 30+ years ago, and had no problems that
I knew of. However, over the years I began to suffer with acid - took
the problem to a number of quacks over the years, and ant-acid
or better still PPI's like Omeprazole was the solution. Yep - it certainly
worked.
Then about 5 years ago I found out about the dementia problems attributed
to Omeprazole and other PPI's that are taken continuously.
A smarter than average doctor mentioned to me that lots of the acid
problems experienced by the let's say more weathered amongst us
is because without a gall bladder the bile dribbles continuously into
the bowl rather than just when we need it most - especially after
a fatty meal. (Bile is instrumental in the digestion of fats).
He told me to get a bottle of Bile Salts capsules - 150mg, and take
one each meal and two if having a fatty feed.
Glory to Allah! "Indigestion" and acid reflux down to a need for
a "Rennies" every now and again, and NO PPI stuff.
What was I talking about?
Oh, I got it - Ox Bile provides the flush of bile when it's needed -
the dribble between meals can't be helped, but at least now
I'm so much improved that I have not had PPI's now for some
years. There's nothing against having a few days occasionally
on PPI, but it's much safer - what am I on about?- orright,
than continuous PPI and running the gauntlet with dementia.
I get my Ox Bile from iHerb online, along with all my other
supplements. Comes from USA freight free. Hard to get out
here. Can't help wondering why the quacks don't tell you
about it - but then they can't write prescriptions for it
so there's no holidays in Fiji courtesy of big Pharma.

Not me but friends,family .If left too long it seems the poison builds up . I takes several months for your body to clean itself . Seems the liver takes over or works better ? My bro had all sorts of gall stones etc . Every time he travelled he had urinary issues ! Since having his gall bladder out he cant eat fatty or high acid foods . After 18 months he seems to getting better . He lost weight down to 84kg . His normal weight is around 100kg .

Get the Ox Bile!
You cannot digest fats properly with the small dribble at mealtime.
The bladder is storage for when you eat - no bladder - no dump of bile.
same goes for "indigestion" - no digestion of fats!
Plenty on the web about it - don't take my opinion as gospel!
