When lock down happens!

Hey there everyone,

Firstly, thanks to everyone who has given me some advice here on this page. Its great knowing that I can come on here and gain not only information or resources but also personal opinions from lived experiences.

Still undecided on when to go back to Sydney, but hope all will unfold as it needs to. I am lucky that I have everything that I need and if anything I'm probably better off living on the road free to roam (work/finances permitted).

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

I spent the two previous, three months each, Victorian lockdowns camped in the forest in NW Vic on the Murray River, I barely noticed the lockdowns were happening. With the current lockdown I am, again, camped in the forest in north central Vic - which is somewhat cooler - but, again, am barely aware of the lockdown.

Additionally and although I have had two AZ jabs it's nice being isolated from others at this time - I would not wish to be living in the middle of a major city currently... or at any other time come to that :)

I look out my caravan window and can both hear and see the wood ducks on the dam 50m distant. This morning I bush-bashed through the forest (no mask) and stirred a mob of about 15 'roos, other than the sounds of nature I am surrounded by peace, tranquility and silence... lockdown? What lockdown? :)

I think "city living" is unnatural for humans .......when there is a "holiday weekend" you do not see a traffic jam caused by cars trying to get into the city.........

That sounds absolutely Devine! I concur, definitely was the same for me, well the feelings associated with not feeling the effects of lockdown anyway.  I think it is amazing that we actually can do these things and not have to stick around with the chaos. Unfortunately my Family are quiet impacted this time around hence why I have some deeper concerns.

Oh love the sound of your morning and that's completely the whole point for me. haha a good old bush bash, haven't done that for a long time! I am surrounding by farm animals all just doing going about their daily routines happy as larry!

Great to hear, your enjoying the peace and tranquility.

If you need any help in Sydney, let me know, i am about 10 mins from the start of the M1 motorway near Hornsby.

I just had an email on the expected handover date on my new caravan, and it is June next year, so around a 12 month wait all up.

This time next year i should be on my way.

Love seeing the updates.

Stay safe.

Hey there and thank you so much for the offer of help! It is really appreciated.

Oh so just under a year to go! I'm sure there will be lots to prepare in that timeframe but how exciting. Was that sooner or later than expected? I cant recall.

Thanks, I most certainly will do. :)

My delivery date has been brought forward by a few weeks, no big deal really. I do have the Chassis number though.

Then plan was to be on the road just as i retire, which was going to September, at 66.5 years old.

Retirement in reality can be any day from today. I am thinking that as soon as the new Iveco is delivered, i may pull up stumps, and use that as a platform for travel.

That is due in April. I will be using the Iveco as a camper van of sorts at some stage anyway, when i want to get to areas that i don't want to drag the caravan.

Its just a waiting game now.

Hi TamSun

Good to see that you are enjoying yourself, and that you have figured out that it is the journey/people you meet, and not the destination

It looks as though you are becoming a bit less afraid, of solo female traveling

I have met many solo female travelers, along the road, so it must be safe

As far as whether you should carry on to Sydney, or just wait the pandemic out somewhere

You are the best person to judge that, as you will know your situation, better than anyone else

If it was me, I would be picking a nice spot to stay, (away from the pandemic)

If you are still near Adelaide, a nice donation camp at Greenock comes to mind

Called Greenock Centenary Park, within walking distance to the small town

Last time I passed through, they asked for a $5 donation (they have a donation box)

There are toilets, potable water, and a dump point

 Hey there Tony,

Yes its been a process but I believe that I'm slowly learning the ropes. One thing I have always try to remember is that it is not the destination it is the journey in which we take which is why i flag that in my business so much.

Yes I have been camped at a nice spot at Port Lincoln, awaiting repairs on my phone and windscreen but I did consider Adelaide. Will see what the next few days entail however thank you, that could potentially be a spot for me.

Thanks for your support! This group has been great for it. :)

Hi TamSun

On your way to Adelaide, you have to go through Port Augusta

I have previously stayed at the following place in that town

Port Augusta Sports Club Motorhome Park, at 58 Old Power Station Rd

It is a very safe place as in is on the outskirts of town, and near a gun club

There is a dump point, and potable water

When the sports club is open, there are also toilets, limited menu, and beer

The price has recently gone up to $8 per night, or $50 per week

Thanks Tony Bev, I have been camped up at an amazing little spot however wondering with the extension of lockdowns in NSW where to next? I will eventually go through Port Augusta I guess its just a matter of when at the moment. So much to consider, but this is a great option especially needing to top up etc!
