Doug, your nuanced alteration to the word "tow" went straight over Dicko's head and into the ether.

Cruising between ocean and lakes in North Queensland. Im not locked down ! I escaped from Sydney month or so back . Enjoying the warmer weather up here ! Lake Proserpine, Kinchant dam, Mystic Sands to name a few !! . Unfortunately need to go back down South NSW coast to help a mate with terminal cancer ! Cairns, Innisfail to Nowra in 5 days . Weve had our shots . This pandemic has stuffed good plans ! My bro was flying in from
NZ . Three times the flight has been canceled! Last time because there was NO covert testing here when he got off the plane ! For goodness sake when are the authorities going to get things RIGHT !!

If there is no real need to travel, then don't. That will give the authorities some breathing space. The current lockdowns were all caused by travellers.

Yeh, started out ok, working with the states. But now it's all political, and never proactive. Only reacts to problems, and then it's slow. Reminds me of a few managers I've met over the years.

I tend to agree with Dorian although not all antivaxers our "young".

There are too many people in the world so those who are endangering others should be the first to go on the population control list.

I once worked for a very large company. Not only are they slow, even then those managers still get it wrong... & get a promotion!

Caused by people who have it not being tested or vaxed . We traveled when the boarders where open .  Near every outbreak is from travelers yes !! From OVERSEAS from areas where there is known covert . The centres quarantine are not efficient!! NZ doesnt have any . Or the same here ! Any outbreaks are due to people coming into the country . Including airline people !!! Its not the grey nomads spreading !! Its people going from one close are to another . Traveling in motorhome staying in lake areas theres been NO outbreaks !!  How much time do the dumb ass authorities need .  We have done nothing wrong or illegal ! The cold effects me big time in the winter months

I heard on the radio a few weeks ago that there still hasn't been any environmental air flow reports done in the quarantine hotels.

The sort of thing they do when designing a new building's heating, cooling & ventilation.

Basic stuff for any building.

usually when it comes to management they all climb the ladder of success, till they reach their level of incompetency and that is where they stay

why has this been allowed to happen?  it is a lack of leadership at the Federal level - this is a national pandemic, not a State one

Reports from this mornings news are suggesting that this lockdown may go for at least another 4 weeks when considering current infection numbers in NSW.

From listening to Gladys this morning she certainly has changed her tac over Covid 19 from her views and comments over the past few months.

I think the new Delta strain has been a wake up call for many.  It is far mor deadly than the corona virus. Young or old can be affected and in many cases it requires hospitalisation.

As Sydney grapples with its growing outbreak of the Delta variant intensive care doctors are treating seven covid-19 patients, including a person aged in their 30s.

A further 30 people have been hospitalised with the coronavirus disease, and two of the ICU patients are on ventilators.

Eight of the hospitalised people are under the age of 35.

FOUR STEP PLAN TO NORMAL

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced a four-step plan.

STEP 1. Say you have a plan which is the same plan youve always had even when you didnt have a plan.

STEP 2. Deny you just said that.

STEP 3. Put the plan into action or a garbage bin.

STEP 4. Announce another four step plan.

Pathetic. If you think that you can do a better job than is currently being done, you might like to run for Parliament? It is very easy to sit back and criticise everything that is not being done to your satisfaction, but unless you can offer a sensible and viable alternative,it might be better to just shut up? Surely you cannot deny that, with the number of Covid deaths in Australia being very low, surely something is being done correctly?  Cheers

Hahahaha...this was said in jest but many can relate to it. Scummos handling of the vaccine rollout is abysmal...We were possibly the worlds best at handling the initial virus outbreak.....but now, because of no real plan (remember its not a race)!!!, and decisions made on the run people are confused, fed up, angry and disheartened with both govt and state leadership(rather...the lack of). The govt proclaimed that by October this year anyone wanting the vaccine would have it.

According to that article, Our World in Data, an online research publication run by Oxford University researchers, ranked Australia "113th among the world's countries for total doses per 100 residents, falling behind Kazakhstan, Cambodia and Seychelles".

Perhaps the scaremongering about vaccines has had an effect causing many people to resist vaccination.

Perhaps the fact that our suppliers of Pfizer cancelled our scheduled supplies to give to countries more in need has led to targets not being met.

Perhaps the reasons for the slow uptake of vaccination is due to the good management that resulted in one of the world's lowest case and death rates. As we have seen from comments on here, some people compare the risk of catching Covid to the risk of side effects from the vaccine. With virtually zero chance of catching it, why take the risk with a vaccine?

I admit to having being one of those people not long ago. Actually, what changed my opinion was from discussions on places like here that led me to look up facts and staistics myself, rather than taking notice of uninformed opinions.

Had our case numbers and resultant deaths been like many other countries, I feel sure the vaccination rate would be much higher. If the current growth in case numbers increases markedly, just watch the daily vaccination rate grow.

I guess even the most rabid supporters of the Australian government's handling of the Covid-19 crisis would agree that other countries are leaving us in a cloud of dust when it comes to vaccination rates.
Take UK for instance - 68.4% have had at least one vaccination. How great is that, shout the yapbags who are ashamed of our government and medical systems. Why can't we do as well they grizzle. We have way less than half the vaccination rate they moan. Off with their heads they shout. Put labor/liberal in because they will easily do better. UK are free and we are locked up they claim.

Hmmmm!

Anyone here good at basic arithmetic and interested in the facts

Population of UK is 68 million and Australia has nearly 27 million.

Yesterday, the UK had 35,707 infections, 2700 in hospital and 29 deaths.

Screenshot_20210710-212905.png

Convert those figures prorata to Australia's population (I'll leave it up to you) and compare those results to Australia's infection, hospitalisation and death figures
New cases 46

In Hospital 92

Deaths  ZERO
-

And then explain to me why some of you keep harping on about the crappy job Australia is doing.

Well, my wise wife says the human race has screwed the planet again.

Reckons mother nature tried to fix 90% of the earth's problems by reducing our population with a pandemic.
( I think we all know there are waayy too many people, right. )

Well we screwed it again, against the odds, we look like beating it. Poor old earth lost again.
