Riddle me this

Why is it that, when pulling a caravan, the road before you has so many hills and you think to yourself that when I traveled back it will have so many downhills, yet you find out on the way back there so many hills still ahead of youno

What goes up must come down then what comes down must go up in reverse. However, if you come down and keep going on flat ground you risk falling over the edge.

It is complicated but all I can say is that it is tied in with "head winds.." It is a conspiracy........ and is magnified when low on fuel....

Yes you are right about the head winds. I just made it into Camooweal from the Barkly Homestead.  The headwinds were ferocious and I ended up using 50% more fuel then normal. Just made it with nothing but the smell of the proverbial oily rag.

That's why I always carry an 'emergency' 20L can of fuel when traveling away from the coast.

Hmm smile
When I was studying physics at school 60 years ago, doing friction and forces, a clever student asked 'how do we know which way friction is acting'. The clever teacher said 'well simple really, always acting against the direction of travel'. I never forgot that and I think all these other forces are just the same too !!biggrin

Some little things just stick in the memory aww

So if going is an issue then if we drove in reverse would the same apply?

I agree. I went to the doctors once, due to my advancing years and he said that I should start thinking of the hereafter. I said to him that I do that all the time, I walk around my house and into a room and think, what am I here after? no
