Have had a really good run with the Millenco's but if you don't tighten them up enough then your wife is right.

i brought mine on e bay cost me 49 bucks they have a slide tube for the mirror.........and a clamp thingy over the car mirror........i also attach a bungee cord to the car mirror with a saddle .......i to have lost a mirror once but with the cord now i havent but its there if needed...........mirrors on e bay are cheaper than the shops

I have the Milenco mirrors. Was advised to attach them to the bottom of the OEM mirror housing, works well, no issues so far.

Milenco for me. Never come off, never blown in. You do need to tighten them with multigrips or similar. Thumb tight is not good enough

I've had ORA Rosa mirrors on our GQ Patrol - mostly they were ok although the support arm would occasionally fall off the door. These didn't fit well on our GU, so I went to Aussie Truck mirrors but our D-max has the same window moulding as the GQ so I looked at resurrecting the Oras. I didn't have enough bits in one piece to fit them so on recommendations I went to Milenco. But vibration was an issue!

Instead of fitting the mirrors to the top of my mirror housing, I clipped them to the bottom & added the door arm off the ORA set. They are still not perfect but it works ok. While they are not cheap, ORA are very good on back up spare parts.

Perhaps one day I'll see fit to install some mega $ MSA mirrors but I'm satisfied at the moment. The bar ensures the mirror doesn't load the OE mirror housing entirely.

But there has to be better out there that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

It's always going to be a compromise adding extra mirrors to existing components. I made my own for my last cruiser but when l went to the D-max l just decided to buy clearviews.

Yep I have had and or made every type of mirror going. A strap to the door, a clip to the bonnet, mounted on the bull bar, (what a flop) smile

With the Tojo I have the clearview variety on from new (self fitted,) and they are the very best of products in the whole time I have been driving.

They only cost me $750-00 self fitted which can buy a small car.

But that's what second and third mortgages are for Hey!!! smile

Like a cyclist that will tell you that his silly little hat saved his life, I can tell you the same tales about these mirrors that do not shake, do not move or fall off.

But... the cost will stop you in your tracks.....

Agree with that. I equate them to Dyson products. Doesn't matter what price you put on them, people will buy them. I used them on a previous Ute, but found they have a restricted view in the horizontal plane. Have Milenco for the new setup.

I thought the std ones were bad enough but have a look at the price of the new "Next generation" Clearviews!!

At $750 to $790 you'd want to get a lot of use out of the clear views and be bloody good. My guess would be made in China for $20 a pair.

I made my own for the 79 Series......probably $10 for the Knobs and some RHS"off-cuts" ....can slide them in or out from in the cab - great for when you forget !

I have a set of mirrors which clamp onto the body of the door mirrors on my Pajero. Cost $45.00 for the pair from Aldi about 8 years ago. They are a tube which is clamped to the original car mirrors, and the towing mirror clamps to the tube. They have served me very well, except that the plastic mirror body on the Pajero mirrors is designed to fold back to the door if you hit something hard. Good, except that every time a large B Double went past the driver's side mirror thought it had been hit and it folded. Also, the mirrors vibrated a bit, but I can see quite well what is going on behind me. The passenger side never moves, partially because it doesn't get buffeted by trucks, but also because the mirror is angled back more. I fixed that with a simple piece of electrical cable and some home-made clips which clip onto the wheel arch flare and also on the mirror body. The cable is trimmed to the exact length such that it is taut when the driver's door is closed. When the door opens, the cable is slack. The mirror doesn't vibrate any more and certainly doesn't fold back when buffeted by trucks.

If you think Clearview cost an arm and a leg, don't look at the price of genuine replacements from a dealer. You might just fit Clearview to save money. The Clearview website lists used sets for sale by owners who have changed vehicles and no longer need them

I did lose 1 Milenco mirror, but that was because someone needed my attention before I'd tightened it up properly and I forgot to complete the task. Operator error.

I use Millenco mirrors. Had to get a few F boot rubbers to fit the mirror. The standard flat boots did not fit the mirrors on the 2019 Tiguan Allspace. No problems with the mirrors working loosejust have to be sure that the clamps are against the mirrors and that all clamps are tight.

May be worth consideration.

Same here...no problems whatsoever. Sitting on 110kph they held like glue.

now days when away i carry a spare set of mirrors because you never know .......and in country towns they cost way more to replace....... as i may have said i have an elastic bungee to stop the mirror if for some reason it gets knocked of the car .......

Thanks for all the responses and recommendations on Towing Mirrors and sorry for the late reply, I've been so busy I forgot to check and see if anybody had replied. There's simply not enough hours in the day, I'm sure other retired people can relate to that! I will do some research on all your suggested options. By the way Yobarr, as I said I did do a search and for some reason it said "no topic",maybe a glitch in the system that day?? Thanks again to everybody.
