Departing Victoria hours before the lockdown

On a more serious note!!!.

We visiting our family in Victoria with our departure due on Thursday 3 June.

Our choice was:-

Do we stay in Victoria for whatever period of time if there is a lockdown?

Or heaven forbid, do we risk the fact that if we returned on the departure date of the 3rd June we would /could end up in 2 weeks hotel quarantine at our expense.

So, on Wednesday 26th, we made the decision to cut our holiday short by a week and to change our flight plans back to Gold Coast.

It became obvious that Victoria would be going into some sort of lockdown.

Flight Centre was able to get us on a Virgin flight departing Melbourne on Thursday 27th at 2.0 pm.

We do have to pay a fee to change our flight booking.

The Lockdown took effect from yesterday, with more cases reported today Saturday

A great decision on our part.

FYI.

We booked via Regional Express Airline ( REX)

Our return cost for 2 tickets was $336. ( Yes for two )OK, it cost us an additional 2 x $60 to change the flight plan.

The plane was a Boing 737-800

Fantastic in-flight service.  ( No Meals)

At that price give me REX any day.
