FINALLY we are Ambling off North then West then South then East....

G'day all, we are counting down the sleeps before we set off on our next amblingadventure on 16 June.  Like so many other Nomads our plans have been on hold for some time as we adapted to this new world of COVID.  We have both had the first Astra Zenica jab (no reactions thankfully) and soon after the next one we and our Sheltie, Rosie,  will be on the road in our Nissan Patrol (LInus) and faithful Living Edge Van and heading NORTH from the cold of a Southern Highlands Winter. It has been ever so long since we have caught up with friends, cousins, grandchildren AND Great Grandies, including a newbie; who live along the East Coast between home and Gladstone in Queensland. Our progress is never rapid, and usually limited to about 300 klms maximum a day, with lots of stops to explore the towns, villages and landscape along the way.  We are fortunate to have the gift of time and no pressure to be any particular place in a hurry.  From Gladstone we will make our way across to the Three Ways interssection on the Sturt Highway, then up to Katherine.  Tragically my son was killed there on 5 November 2018 when a horse ran out in front of his motor bike in the early hours of the morning.  I want to erect a small cairn in his memory beside the road where he passed away.

Some of you may have seen the ABC Back Roads presentation from the Adelaide River area which aired several weeks ago.  Heather Ewart caught up with friends of ours, who live at the World War II Aif base at Coomalie Creek: Series 7 Episode 11 (https://iview.abc.net.au/video/RF2027V011S00) We plan to reach Coomalie by Mid August, before the arrival of the convoy of old WWII Vehicles, which is travelling from Adelaide up to Darwin.

After plenty of time catching up with our Territory mates, it will then be time for us to turn South and make our way back home (SLOWLY).  I have attached a map of Part 1 of our inteneded route, but as always, the wind might blow us a different way.
