And if you do how does it go with your caravan air conditioner and/or other heavy loads? The Product Review website has one report that it won't run a van AC.

Mike as I understand it it is a clone of Honda's 22i which has maximum output of 2200W/240 volt AC and 8.3 amp DC - I have the Honda and it performs well with van's Ibis air conditioner, washing machine and assorted power tools. Maybe there is a performance difference with Yamaha, but I doubt it.

I have honda2000i , works well with ibis 3 air con , provided hot water heater turned off . Noise is always a concern the ratings dont interest yr neighbor if it is 11.00pm or later at night.
I do not have the 2200 but i have the ef2400 Yamaha. Runs everything great Incl. Air con. When bought got told that was the size needed to start up and run air con. And anything smaller would not be enough for the start up. Anyway, runs great, happywith purchase.

We have a Yamaha 2200 and have been told it will not run our aircon which is a Houghton Belair which is not a soft start type.
I have not tried to run the aircon as I am told, possible damage may occur to aircon or gen if gen has insufficient grunt.
I did a lot of research and decided that if I were to buy a new portable generator, the EU22i would get my dollars over the EF2200iS, simply because at idle and also at full throttle, the Honda is measurably quieter than the Yamaha.
There are lots of Youtube videos that validate this.
The second reason why I'd go for the Honda is simply because there are more dealers and parts availability, kind of like how Toyota is preferred over the competition for the same reason. A little more subtle but equally valid is that the parts on the Honda are cheaper.
However if I were buying the smaller Yamaha EF2000iS compared to the Honda EU20i, the choice is much harder, as the Yamaha becomes a much more compelling purchase due to iron sleeved engine, lower idle noise level. The Honda EU20i is noisier at idle but quieter than the Yamaha at full throttle. However it has various plastic parts inside the engine like the governor and camshaft!
Back to the original poster's query re running a caravan's A/C, neither the Yamaha EF2200iS nor the Honda EU22i will run a big caravan's AC if other big power items are running at the same time, e.g. hot water service switched on at 240v, and Microwave running.
But if these two items are turned off, then there's a very good chance that most caravan a/c units can be started by either of these two generators. Be wary of a/c power consumption numbers, which only specify running power requirements, but conveniently (?) fail to mention the significant start up power requirements. That's where the generators will flounder, if the a/c startup power requirements exceed the max outputs from the generators. And these startup power requirements are significant, sometimes as much as almost double the running power requirements.
Now the most important question is - what model caravan a/c does the original poster have? :)
The start-up is complicated because the compressor and fan start together
and the combined current draw will likely stop the smaller (2000) genny.
Before turning the a/c on,:
The workaround is to simply set the temperature way below ambient if its cold
or way above if it's hot.
That way the fan will start up, but not the compressor.
Then when running, advance the temp setting to that required and since
the fan is already going, it is a lower initial draw and will start up without
tripping the genny.
Some later a/c units have a "Soft Start" program which makes this procedure
unnecessary. You can buy a Soft Start module and retrofit it to your older a/c.
