Hi hairy on it could be a battery fail indicator for caravan brakes - was mandatory in NSW. - no longer a mandated requirement although handy to have.

could be a dummy car alarm , or a real one ??
I think trial and error or trace the wires is the only way to get a proper answer

G` day ,
If you have the service books try contacting the original owner and ask the question.

Can you trace where the wiiring goes? Does the light come on? Do you see a wifi or bluetooth device that your phone may connect to?

The photo shows what looks like 5 holes to plug something into it. Also that little white piece looks like an electronic adjuster for sensitivity or something.

Maybe if you remove the 2 screws there will be some information on the back.

Could be a throttle adjuster. You can buy these to change the sensitivity and reaction of the electronic throttle pedals. Given its position and size I would think that maybe what it is.

There are 2 svrews, take it off & trace the wires. I doubt it is a button for an ejector seat!

Some car dealers fit a tracking device with immobiliser to vehicles, the sons vehicle had one which recently immobilised his vehicle. Looked different to that picture, but there are many types. It didnt have a SIM card, and I wouldnt have a clue how it worked, a mechanic removed it, he said it is very common to find them.
