Any Recommendations Where to stop Ord River to Broome on Highway 1 in August

Hi,

We are travelling in two on-road caravans from Ord River to Broome on Highway 1 in August.

I would very much appreciate any advice for stop overs on the way.  Place to stay, places to see.

cheers Tony

I'm surprised you have not had any replies to you question.

The Fitzroy Crossing Lodge is fantastic. It's on the right just before Crossing the Fitzroy River.

Google maps will get you there.

An excellent tour is Danggu Geikie Gorge. Also Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek.

You also have Purnululu National Park on the left before Halls Creek, and Mary Pool is also a good place for lunch.

There are lots more places of interest on your way down as well.

Hope this of some help.

Regards.

Hetho.

Marys Pool free camp is good. Fitzroy Crossing Lodge was good. Free camp outside entry to Bungle Bungles. Visit the Bungle Bungles (Purnululu), Geikie Gorge out of Fitzroy Crossing, Tunnel Creek out of FC, Windjana Gorge past Tunnel Creek. Visit to Derby and perhaps do the Horizontal Falls. Theres some for you.

Just saw Hetho said these. I second them!

Half of Australia's travelling public will be up there still in August - pack your Wikicamps www.wikicamps.com.au/ to ensure you get the latest information on any prospective camps.
