Well after many years my boat is finally repaired and I am currently sailing it around OZ, Heading for the Kimberlys via the east coast and Great barrier reef and Darwin,
We left Yaringa in Westernport Bay about two months ago,
We have since been thru about 10 Gales in Bass Strait, Lost count actually,
We were in 6 metre waves and a huge wave came over the back of the boat and over the boat itself, Filled the ****pit with water, smashed my back on the seat as I nearly went over the side, ****pit covers took the brunt of it, It was also at night,
We spent four days anchored behind Gabo Island till the gale blew itself out, It was about 70 knots of wind,
We spent about six weeks at Eden till my back got better and repaired the damage to the boat,
We stayed at Towamba River mainly, Kiah Inlet, Only Multihulls can get in there as its only 4 feet deep at the entrance, I only pull two feet,
New Solar Panels, 2 X 350 Watts, new wind generator, New Batterys, 7 of them, Now have 770 Amphrs of Batterys, New VHF, The hand piece got broken,
All the ****pit covers have the stitches ripped out from the storm, I need a sailmaker.
Now parked at the Bermagui Marina till the weather is going our way,
My Girl, 68 years old, A rank novice to boats has been thru more storms than most sailors have been thru in a lifetime of sailing, She still hasnt thrown the towel in, Hahahaha, She just sits inside and reads books,
My 36 foot RV we will use to travel in when we get back, About 2 years away,
A big win there - you don't need Tyre Pressure Monitors....!
Great to see and hear about Adventurers .....keep it up (and do not plan ahead too much or else the "Adventure " part will be lost ) oh .... and keep us informed .
Welcome to GNs Brian & Averil, You must like the yacht life to take so long going through Bass Straight, as nasty a bit of water as anywhere. Hopefully you will get fairer weather going around the Eastern coast.
