Does anybody else have trouble reading and posting on this website?

Hi all,

I've contributed a few times to the Grey Nomads forums but I've found the website hard to read and post to. Does anybody else have troubles with this website?

Admittedly I couldn't be bothered to start up my computer so I use my mobile phone to access it and the small screen just makes it hard to read.

Never had a problem since I joined in 2008.

Hope that you get it sorted

It's hard to read because the default font is too small and contributors
write impossibly long lines, and don't paragraph.

Generally speaking, no line should have more than 90 characters.
Note the line length of news papers. They are that way to enable
fast reading.

Another criticism is the fact that there's no visible demarkation between
quotes and contributions. Very monotonous.

Posting is simple if you have a reasonable size screen and keyboard.

Hi Buzz,
I prefer to use the site on a PC as sometimes my typed message on my tablet disappears without warning (suspect fingers hitting wrong key accidentally.

When I use my phone, I turn it 90 degrees so the long dimension goes with the written page. Just makes it easier to read.

I have frequented a LOT of forums over the years, this is one of the more unfriendly sites I have frequented. It works, but it is no as easy as most

I don't have a problem with the GN Forum and don't view any others. I use it on my Laptop and mainly on my phone. I am on the Laptop as we speak though and also do my update on the Laptop.

Although I am virtually computer illiterate, never have I had any problem with this site,or,indeed, with any of the other forums of which I am a member. Almost all my posting is done on an old iPad,although I did use a laptop for a short while.Cheers

No problems on my Android phone which is virtually all my internet usage. My computer is a decade old, but no issues there reading.

Having said that I do need to get new glasses, but this is my problem. More issues reading labels for food ingredients than the internet.

If people write long blocks of text, or do a whole sentence in capitals. It makes text more difficult to read. Then I simply don't read it due to poor page layout.

Yep, have to agree, not the easiest of forums to negate.......woops meant...navigate!

I sometimes use my samsung tablet and it is a nightmare, clunky and just terrible, mainly use the laptop or desktop.

Why would you wish to negate a forum? Cheers

Have never experienced any problems, admittedly I only access it via a Windows 10 PC, don't feel the need to log on with my phone.smile

Brodie Allen I haven't looked at the HTML but it may be due to fixed table widths or invalid HTML.

Have you paid your treslikety light bill?  smile

Just look up to the Rh corner of the post that you want to quote- "QUOTE"

Click on that, a new window will open with the post that you

are quoting, and now type your message as normal!

Yes I have issues if I post from my Android phone or tablet which is most of the time. It chops out the paragraphs in my posts and puts it altogether as undoubtedly it will do with this one. At times it will display all the posts on a page in tiny writing and condensed into a column about a third of the screen width. It seems to run much better on my desktop computer when I am at home but that's not that often these days. I am on a number of car related forums and have none of the issues I have with this one.

I can't see that on the mobile interface. I've had to use the full we page not only to quote but also to try to attach the screen shot of the mobile interface, as below.

It would be nice if the default setting was for the newest posts to appear first, and not the first one.
Is there a way to set the defaults within the website?
