Who's getting Sunshine today?

Does it seem to you that climate change is closing in?  (even if you are not so sure about it )    I find dull cloudy days the hardest to cope with.  Will I do this?  will I do that?   No can't do that it might rain.   What can I do?  Go for a walk in the rain?  Nah. Not my style.   

I like the sun shining.   People also seem to be in a more pleasant frame of mind.  

No rain,  tad humid here but not warm enough for a Tshirt. Damp underfoot from last nights shower.   We've had days of this in the ACT. In fact I think it was like this most of last winter and then into summer.

GOD! BRING BACK THE SUNSHINE!

was sunny am, but cloud after lunch, good for washing the East side windows, kept it 22 degrees. Been too boring 10 or 12 days of sun

Sitting in Augusta at the southwest tip of Australia and the weather is glorious. Mid twenties and sunshine. Van backed up to the estuary just behind our bay. Perfect spot.

We are camped at our growing up area Central Coast NSW and we both remember wet Easters. Flooding in the lower Hawksbury, Hunter Region back in the fifties, sixties but now large dams control this to some extent.

 AND humid up here in Rockingham, as other people above say overcast and cloudy not nice, I think because it takes a lot of colour out of your visual surroundings. Imagine what it's like to live in say, England where it's overcast and grey most of the time, how depressing. Thunderstorms with lots of lightning ok tho.

 Could be...on Mid North Coast 250mm in last 3 days.Many people are flooded in,and can't get to the pub! Disaster? Tried to visit a friend today near Kempsey,but turned back when roadside marker posts showed water was 2 metres deep.Luckily I was able to attend the local club,but many people found that all access roads to thevvillage were flooded.Still pouring rain now...Cheers

P.S Just heard that Kempsey has had 360mm rain in last 24 hours!

Come to Townsville, lots of sun here! Even some humidity to keep things including bodies moist, but I prefer being warm than cold & we can wear the same type of clothing day in, day out. Temperature range is 23 to 31, 32 degrees each day.

Mind you we are still in the cyclone season (another month to go), so there is still time for my bananas to get a bit of a battering (have three big 20+kg bunches developing).

 Thanks...had another 210mmnin 24 hours,and to get to town I had to drive through lots of floodwater up tp 700mm deep.There were a couple of smaller cars that had come to a halt in the water,which was up to the tops of their bonnets.Could be in a spot of bother too,as they had driven past "road closed" signs.The Council workers manning those signs had said I could proceed if I wished,but there were cars lined up for a long way in both directions.Seems the Pacific Highway is closed between Buhladelah and Port Macquarie.When I was heading North around Coopernook,there were endless lines of traffic stationary in the South-bound lanes...and it still is raining! Cheers

 Thankyou,Rob,for this valuable piece of advice,but being able to,or needing to,cross flooded areas is dependent largely on driving skills,having a suitable vehicle,and the circumstances in which one finds oneself.Cheers.

 All to no avail....Bottleshop was inaccessible! Pribably there will be cheap beer here soon...last week we got 10 cartons of beer that had been in a flood,and were being sold cheaply.Getting the beer to the car was fun though!

The Entrance NSW.

2 days of almost continual rain, localised flooding at low lying creek crossing and around the beautiful lakes area. One thing I remember from growing up in the fifties and sixties, school buses driving though flood water to get home of a late afternoon.

Tomorrow will head a little further north to Toronto on the western side of Lake Macquarie near Newcastle hoping to find drier weather.

Overcast from late afternoon yesterday here in central vic.

Beautiful steady light rain most of the night and all day today, near perfect. 25.3mm so far and happy to see more yet.

Some heavy rain would be excellent to fill our dams and water tanks, but happy with good steady continuous rain also.

Over the last 3 days we drove from Kingscote on Kangaroo Island to Lake Macquarie the weather was fantastic all the way at least until we got to Dunedoo on the Golden hwy where we started to hit the rain. The only problem was a road closure on the Golden Hwy just before the junction with the new England hwy at Whittingham just meant a small detour past the Singleton army base. We couldn't get from Forbes to Parkes on the Newell Hwy and had to take a 40km detour but that had nothing to do with flooding the people manning the road block told us that the police had the highway closed all day as they were carrying out some sort of criminal investigation....

On the Golden Hwy there was lots of water pooling along the sides of the road in places like Jerrys Plains but nothing you had to drive through - with this rain continuing that could quickly change....

 Pretty grim for some families around here,with a complete house floating away, down the local river,on the very day that the owners were to get married. Heart breaking for them.Many local roads are closed to all traffic,with traffic lined up on the side of the Pacific Highway,although bigger trucks are allowed through in batches,albeit with an escort.Up the valley,which has only one access road,last night there were two bridges washed completely away,leaving 20-30 families totally isolated.The Council has a mammoth task ahead,but not being able to access suitable quarries for 600mm rock will delay action. You can't just keep pouring truckloads of gravel into a raging torrent,and expect it to stay there! Mobile phone service has gone for many,but my Celfi Go is getting 2-3 bars,so anybody with a Telstra SIM is using it for free if they come close to my car or van.Many people in suitable cars are ignoring 'Road closed' signs,and driving through deep water,but you have to do what you have to do.Watch this space.Cheers
