I am wondering which state has the best value in regard to the standard on road charges. Stamp duty, rego etc? and then the ongoing annual costs, green slip, rego etc?
I live in Sydney, but only in rented accomodation, so i dont need to register it here.
We live in QLD. Purchased in NSW and registered in NSW. We saved on duty. But technically it's illegal. Even though the NSW folks we used knew what we were doing. When the rego was due we registered in QLD because I wasn't comfortable with using a "false" address in NSW. To rego in QLD I needed inspections etc. The cost to change over almost equalled the initial savings.
IMHO it's not worth the stuffing around.
There is a concession on the car rego, not sure on the caravan, I will need to go outside to check but the weather is very wet at present so I'll wait awhile.
