I use Boost. They use the FULL Telstra 3G/4G network, which is handy in the country. Other resellers use only part of the Telstra network.
My plan is $150/year for 80gig which is more than enough for us as we have unlimited NBN at home. I think that new customers can't access this plan but can get 100gig for $200.
Depends a lot on where you travel, for us the full Telstra network (which is only Telstra or Boost) is a must, so we have a Boost, as we stream a bit these days have the $300 for 240gb 12 month prepaid. Aldi only uses part of the Telstra network and is very different away from the east coast.
I use the $9.90 monthly Cmobile plan. I think it's an on seller of Vodafone and Optus. It's unlimited nation phone calls and text with something like 1Gb of days which I've never used up because I use the home WiFi.
Switching to Boost sounds like a good idea for travelling and getting the Telstra coverage.
and buy your phone outright directly from Samsung, and don't do what everyone else does and spend thousands. I recenly bought my wife (directly from Samsung) a Samsung A12 delivered for $299 (not an overly expensive S series)

just be happy with pre-paid. You can set up your bank to just direct pay them monthly so it is like being on a plan
Unfortunately Telstra is about the only plan . As reception is useless with anything else out of population . Cheap but unable to use !! Unless they are linked to Telstra .
I have tried Aldi and boost and I'm now on a Telstra prepaid $30 for 8 GB. Not a lot but i get by. Although Aldi and boost good and provide a lot of download consistently I found that once you get out of town you are low priority and Telstra users get the highest priority. I used to often find on boost or Aldi that it would drop out but on Telstra it is far more reliable.
I'm currently sitting in the spot I have never got internet using aldi or boost, but on telstra its a ok.
Boost is Telstra, like Jetstar is Qantas - same company but 'cheaper' brand. When you ring Boost Telstra answers

Boost is a completely separate company from Telstra. The Telstra owned 'reseller' is Belong.
Boost have purchased a package from Telstra, just as many telephone resellers did in the past.
The Boost package includes such things as of course access to the full 3G & 4G network; Access(connection) alterations & Disconnection services; Perhaps Telstra's wholesale billing system & their Reseller/wholesale Customer interface / Call Centre services.
This is why some of the communications that Boost customers receive has a Telstra letterhead.
I am well versed in these arrangements as I was a Senior Telstra Wholesale Manager back in the day when we first established these contractual arrangements for Telephone & Data services.
So, explain to me that when I ring Boost Telstra answers? I get it that there is another 'owner' with a CEO, so does Jetstar
Are you guys for real or just trying to wind me up.
As I tried to explain, if Boost has 'contracted' or paid Telstra to provide a range of services like Call Centres, when you call the 'Boost Call Centre' number a Telstra employee will answer & attend to your enquiry as they are contracted to do.
Perhaps you aught to google 'Does Telstra own Boost' as I suggested in an earlier post.

I wonder how many people still harbour a hatred of Telstra that dates back to its Telecom days. I can never forget how Telecom screwed us for everything.

The other advantage to Boost I have found is, if at the end of your monthly plan you don't recharge you can still receive calls, you just can't make them. This is on one of their plans that "you" recharge NOT the auto recharge. Choice is $20-30-40 monthly plans
Your phone will "receive calls" for up to 6mths before it cancells, handy if you have access to another phone.
By the way, the "who owns Boost" has been done and dusted several times and on several forums and NO Telstra does not own Boost
cheers

Well I have an Amasim plan. It was offered to me as I was an Amaysim energy customer. It has been free for the past 12 months. Free calls etc etc and 200Gb data/mth. It is nominally a $40/mth plan but $0 to me ! Actually just now it is finishing as they sold the Energy retailer to AGL. I am on the last free month, just renewed, but they are offering me $10/mth same plan for a while as I am a good customer ?? It uses the Optus network. We have been away in Vic on and off for the past year and a half and I used it exclusively for my phone and computer needs as well at back home. No problems in central Vic and coming up the Hume in the last couple of days.

it is because the culture hasn't changed. There is a theory around the '5 monkey's experiment' that I reckon suits Telstra. Their customer service, whether face to face, phone or online is abysmal
When I read people complaining about issues with NBN, when I push them for who their internet provider is, it is ALWAYS Telstra. I explain to people that the NBN is just optic fibre and wire (yes a lot of technical stuff in the background). I tell them to change providers, and when they do, they can't believe the difference. I don't understand why people tolerate Telstra

Just sayin'
Jaahn
Optus is OK, we used them for years before moving to Boost, but their service is intermittent
On the risk of changing topics, about power retailers, Origin is like Telstra, it is left over from being the Gvmt owned SEC and have the same attitude as Telstra AND they are one of the most expensive resellers on the market. I use Red Energy, 100% owned by the Snowy Mountain Scheme - so an Aussie company, they are one of the cheaper ones out ther
