Off rd camp site between Pt Germain and Pt Augusta.

Hi all, We're heading over to Streaky bay from Adelaide soon, but can't leave from sth of Adelaide untill 4.00pm. Hoping to get Pt Germain at least before stopping. Apart from those listed at Pt Germain and Mambray creek, is there a camp site a little further up the road that is off the Highway. We'll only sleep there then be gone early. Cheers DR.

We have stayed in Auburn Show Ground a couple of nights in 2018.

A bit past Port Germein east of the range is a 24 hour rest area, on the corner of Horrocks Hwy & Wild Dog Creek Road North.

It's a nice drive on the east side of the range.

If you google Chinaman Creek Campground, you will find this about 5km off the main road(good dirt road in), about 40km from Pt Augusta. Nice spot, donation from memory with a caretaker on site, well was when we were there about 2mths ago, it has long drop toilets but no showers on a small tidal creek. The sign post at the turn off on the left(going north) is very small and easy to miss, we did.
Hope this helps
Ian

Hi Ian, a bit south of Pt Germein and just east of Port Pirie is Lawrie Park.

A free camp with water and toilets.

There is also a free overnighter in the middle of Port Pirie next to the oval.

Joe

Hanc.ocks Lookout.
Drive up the Main North Road 23km south of Pt Augusta (8km north of Nectar Brook) towards Wilmington, through Horrocks Pass and turn right 3 km before reaching Wilmington.
Gravel road for 7km to stunning views down the Gulf where you can spend the night.

We were there only about 6-8wks ago and mozzies only at night and not bad, but yes take mozzie repellent just in case.

Nice spot for an overnighter.

Fuller Views Caravan Park, Stirling North, only 10ks South of Port Augusta on the right, past Sundrop Farm on your left heading North ( attached). It's quiet and off the road. Remember though any camps north of Port Germein, you will be sharing your grounds with the High Vis workforce who are dominating the region right now, and allow more time to travel due to the Horrick's Highway duplication, safe travels.
