Jayco Outback chassis plate

Did you purchase the van new or secondhand? If it is secondhand, I suggest you attempt to trace the previous owner.

I would talk direct to Jayco in Mount Gambier to see if there is any particular point to the part.

Our Outback has one, and all that happens is the hand brake line runs behind it.

I am certain it doesnt provide anything much more important than that. I suspect it is just to ensure the brake cable remains aligned and out of the way of the wheels.

Let us know when you find out.

At a guess I would say the brackets are a mounting for a water tank.

Quite possibly mounting brackets for caravan manouvering system........common in Europe.

Same on our 2011 Sterling.

Facts are they are well behind the wheels, guessing 800mm, so not for manoeuvring system. The one on the door side,the step butts up to it. Standard Water tank couldn't be mounted to them and too low.

Perhaps during hot dip galvanising a spreader bar is fixed between each one to stop the main members twisting. Thats my guess ???

My 2011 Discovery has them in front of the wheels (single axle).
There's a bit of stuff I don't understand under the van - these are just 2 extras! Something to keep the hand brake cable tidy??

Water tanks are held by straps on to cross members.

I have contacted our chassis department and was advised these 4 hole plate are fitted for the option of a caravan mover to be fitted too.

Now just got to work out what mover might fit. Purple Line with a special adapter plate that completely avoids the bar going right across the chassis?
