We got stuck in Port Lincoln due to covid.

Was like Wellington NZ, Southerly busters off the straight, indoor time without a doubt.

When the weather is bad on the Eyre and York peninsula there are not many places to hide .But on good days its one of the best unpopulated spots of coastline in Aust and it does not matter where you are every place gets s$&? weather time to time.Thats the good thing about mobile homes just move on.

Cheers

Hi tea spoon,

The weather across the Gulf wasn't any better. A friend at Second Valley sent us a photo of the damage done to Second Valley Jetty's stairs during the rough weather. Stairs were left hanging vertical. Hopefully wild weather is done for a while. We are heading for Fleurier Peninsula the week after next, then to Edithburgh in the first weeks of March. We are going underwater when we get there.

Our view is that every trip away is a good trip.

We're a pretty privileged bunch here - we can pack up our car, camper, caravan, motorhome, whatever and shoot through for however long we can to wherever we like. If we don't like it when we get there we can pack up and move on.

Sure, things may not go exactly as you'd like but that's the way of the world and a bit of pragmatism and flexibility goes a long way.

We've had a couple of trips that on the face of it were unmitigated disasters but you know what ? We enjoyed the challenges and we had fun.

An old manager of mine used to say "it is what it is. Deal with it and move on".

The important thing is that we can get out there and enjoy neww experiences.

I second port lincoln,

spend 2 weeks there this summer, the weather worse than Melbournes.

4 good days out of 14. But when it turned it on it was magic. No crowds, clean beaches, amazing..

Yes, the rest of the days your in your woolens...

But who cares your out of Vic on holidays..

Isnt it funny how any time you see an advert for caravans or camping and fishing gear the weather is always beautiful. Bright blue cloudless sky.
What did you say Mixo? 4 good days out of 14? I think we have all been there but wouldnt want to not give it a go whenever the chance comes up.

A long time ago we were on the Mount Field NP plateau Tasmania. Not exactly remote.

Very thick cloud came in & we could not see one track marker to the next. So we would go forward as far as we could to maintain sight of the marker & then one of us would go forward to hopefully just see the next marker with the other person in sight.

We found a hut & stayed in it overnight. We had sleeping gear & warm clothes but it was still bloody freezing. Too freezing for anything!

Flew light aircraft in and out of there in the'80's.  Many approaches looking at the runway through the side window, then kick it straight as you land.
