Welcome to the gang Dale and Jacq, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I have been a full time GN now for 6 years, part time for 3 years prior to that.
I use Telstra for my needs. Mobile smart phone and Netgear Nighthawk for Wifi. I have a external antenna up on top of my aluminium teepee and usually connect phone to Wifi calling. I have a plan and bPay the bill monthly. I have a app on my phone to keep track of data being used but have a good plan.
Works for me.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Welcome to GN's Dale & Jacq. Telecommunications in Australia outside of Coastal Cities is sketchy to say the least, a Blue Tick Telstra service is the best telephone service short of going for Satellight phones - Network connectivity is currently because of NBN going to hell in a hand-basket for many regional or isolated areas. As per my signature "Smoke Signals & Message Sticks" is seemingly the only proven option.

Hello Nomadic Painters, All the towns across the Nullabor have Telstra service. Once you arrive on the west coast you will find that Telstra is still the best option. We hotspot our phones for internet connection. Cheers, JeffRae
As JeffRae said, Telstra gives good service as the Nullabor.
On a recent trip when we travelled east to west, we freecamped one night along the Bunda Cliffs area. We used our phones to set an alarm to wake for the following day's journey. Set the time for 5.30am in SA and with the phone on SA time, as we had not crossed the border at that stage. Somehow overnight, the phone caught a WA tower signal so time became WA time which was 2.5 hours behind SA daylight saving time. More sleep-in than we wanted.
