Over 75 years Medical driving certificate.

I am having my over 75 years  medical check-up today.

Should have had it done last week.

I expect to have a great result.

Could, repeat could, be that I may need glass for driving. I already have prescription sunnies but of course, that does not work at night.

Lot more happy days ahead.

Yes, adds over 100 dollars per year to the cost of a heavy vehicle license

While not for a over 75 yr old l did my regular every two check on Friday,
Good for another 2 yrs now.

I gave up my MC licence when l retired early...just wasn't worth keeping it with the extra hassles and charges.

Hi Jay,

Hope all goes to plan with your QLD Roads & transport Dept.

You should try Service NSW. We are up to day 2 trying to Register our little trailer.

Edit ..  This is the procedure for Qld ..  Bulk billed by our GP.

The test is performed by your local GP & perhaps the Practice Sister for the cognitive assessment.

The form is downloaded from the net & you must carry the 'signed' portion along with your licence.

No involvement or charge from the Transport Dept.  No need to advise them of the outcome either, unless you need to change something on the licence  .. like 'glasses required' or 'removing a vehicle category'.

It's an annual requirement from age 75 in Qld.

Hi Cupie,

That is exactly the procedure that I experienced yesterday. most of the examination was with the practice Nurse.

Good for another year, if my old mate up there agrees.

We are in SA. Our GP typically bulk bills us. A HR medical can not be bulk billed and costs $100. A LR medical can be bulk billed. It is much simpler.

The medical forms are sent by the RTA and must be returned to them for both LR and HR medicals after completion. Not sure about MR.

These medicals apply from 70 years.

Cheers,

Peter
