Decades ago I saw, while talking with my boss & looking at the window onto an intersection. A small van with 6 sheet of flooring on the roof turning into the side road rather quickly. Luckily the ropes broke & the sheets continued down the main road otherwise the van would have rolled. We all raced out to clear the debris.

Thanks Possum....Not much ground clearance there, but, apart from seeming to be overloaded, the car has no number plates! Cheers

the car has no number plates

Front plates are not required in some countries (including the USA).

My contribution....Our 1970 Mini K with 3 canoes on the pack rack. We did this on a regular basis.

When we shifted house in 1967, anything too big to go in my father's Holden station waggon went on the pack rack of our Mini 850.

Young, stupid and bullet proof.

I would be more interested to see how good the roof structure is to support it without being down at waist level at the end of the journey.

Hi Peter They look like 2 person folding Kepplers? I wish I had a picture (and god forbid if Yobarr ever saw it) but back in the mid eighties friends and I were doing a Kayak shuffle on a white water river trip when one of the 2 finish of the trip vehicles refused to start in a very remote location very late in the afternoon. My Lada Niva ( yes I admit to owning one of those!) ended up with 7 small white water kayaks making a pyramid on the roof and 7 cold wet bodies stacked inside for the 20 odd kilometres trip back to the rest of the cars at the start. It was late, winter and getting very cold and we were on very remote gravel backroads between river put in and pull out but I dont even want to think of what would have occurred if we were sprung doing this. No-one had phone cameras back then and these days you just wouldnt dare a stunt like this as someone would take a photo for sure. Too old and sensible for those sort of stunts these days!
