 If anyone is in NSW or travelling thru, look no further then Inverell, specifically: Swanbrook Creek, , great for Blue's, green and yellows. The creek runs for many km's, and everywhere on the creek, you will wash up good gems. With all the rain we have had, we tend to get a lot of them coming out of ground around the creek/s. You wont be disappointed. I found the best areas up north of Inverell.

I've had a bit of luck with blues in Werrong Wide Creek and Abercrombie River headwaters (note mainly private property). Also had a few flecks of gold in the pan, no nuggets yet though.

Landy, I am sending people to these locations, as they are profitable. and I want tourists to come to the region. Their is no need to work hard for your stones here like up in Emerald, there you have to put in back breaking work, here it is just a few scoops of a trowel, and you will find colour.

Hello Ric,
I'm a dead-keen fossicker and have done a bit around Rubyvale, Inverell, Emmaville and a few other places.
I'm intrigued by what you say about Werrong Wide creek but can't find it on Google maps.
Can you give some clues as to its exact whereabouts?
When (if) this pandemic goes away and, I get my new caravan, I'd love to get out fossicking again.

 Roy I mentioned Werrong Wide and Abercrombie River headwaters - From Taralga (NSW) heading North towards Oberon, turn right into Wombeyan caves Rd, approx 5 klms Turn left into Jerrong Rd, travel about 25klms - the first Ford (River Crossing) is only about 250mm deep at crossing is actually Abercrombie river headwaters. Travel another 4 klms that is Werrong Wide Creek. You will note I linked Glen Rd, which goes down to Binnacrombie (best known as a Motor Bike camp) at the Abercrombie river.

Whole area was a well know Gold area - although a Tin Mine down at Yeranderie was profitable for a period - A nice little now Privately owned town, historic stone buildings - great place to picnic/camp. 

NOTE: these roads are not suitable for Caravans (even off-road ones) although rugged camper trailers can do it.

Ric,

Can you give me a clue where Swanbrook Creek is in relation to Inverell. I can't find any Swanbrook Creek on Google Maps or Whereis.

Perhaps it has another name.

Roy, Swan Brook (not creek) runs into the Macintyre, near the bend in Ashford Rd, just south of Nullamanna Rd. NE of Inverell proper.
