Replacing my lights with LED

Good morning,

I am looking to change my lights in my Coromal caravan to LED. I am wondering which globes would fit into the light fitting I have. I have attached a picture of my lights. I anyone can let me know that would be great

Thanks

David

Welcome to GN's,
Jaycar have most globes available that will fit your existing fittings.

We will watch this post with interest as we also have a Coromal Princeton with light similar to the photo that David has posted.
As the lights are so dull we have taken the light overs off.
Plus we have installed 4 LED van ceiling lights we bought from eBay.
We now have much-improved lighting however, I would like to have our van with brighter lighting.
I joined the LED units to the existing ceiling lights wiring network.
Also replaced the exterior lights on the awning side with LED.
Always on the lookout to improve our van lifestyle.
Jay&Dee

Try to use LED lights with a high CRI (colour rendering index) as they are easier on the eyes.

Hi all; I think the light that bungy48 has posted a photo of is a small fluro light and therefore would have some form of inverter/ ballast module. This would also have to be removed and to be able to gain access to the 12 wiring. You can purchase small circuit boards ( got mine several years ago through Ebay, you could also try Jaycar ) that have a number of led lights soldered on , just connect 12 volts and away you go. Used a couple for the interior light in the 4x4 and what a difference it main. Gone is the old yellow light that you would have com accustomed to and now just a very white and bright light. The current draw is also quiet small as well.

G'day Bungy48,
Welcome - if no-one else has already welcomed you into a mainly friendly forum that learns together, shares info with others.
Another place to try could be Jaycar's sister company - RTM (Road Tech Marine). They often have different parts to Jaycar, more suited to caravans, boats. Depending on your location you may need to order the parts online.

Beware! Some modifications can become problematic. In my 2001 kitcar that has the old fashioned glass globes, I purchased replacement LED one's with the same bayonet fitting in tail/brake lights, reverse and indicators. The reverse was ok. The indicators wouldn't flash. The tail lights dimmed. I was told (This was some time ago so memory hazy) that I'd need another electrical unit to allow them to work ok. In the end they simply weren't worth the trouble. My 2c

Hi Eaglemax,
You need the optional resistor when changing resistive globes to LEDs (one per cct - left & right) to give the correct flash rate on indicators. Incandescent globes are resistors, LEDs are diodes.

David,
You may experience noise, interference (as reported on this forum many times) to your tv. This is caused by the electronics that run LED lights, compact fluro lights.
Compact fluro installed in house ceiling roses start falling to pieces as I've found recently due to the heat generated by the electronic drivers.

As usual it seems that we fix an issue but cause others!

Thanks everyone for you input it is really appreciated. I have found these on Jaycar I am thinking for putting two in each light that would give me 900 Lumens per light I don't know if they would be too bright or would 450 lumens be enough I have 5 lights in the van.

A bit off topic, but when I replaced my flashers with LEDs I also changed the Patrol's flasher relay with one that was designed to work with LEDs.

I have replaced all the lights in the van, both for night lighting & running lights. Purchased most on line from the LED Shop.  Much cheaper than Jaycar/RTM & a good Qld owned company.
