Best Sullage Pipe to Purchase

What are users experiences?

Do "Lay Flat" run clear and not clog?

Does the internal diameter of the hose effect its efficiency to run clear and not clog?

Appreciate any advice.

Thx

G'day,

I would say it depends on the size of the waste outlet plumbing. Mine is 40mm and I use a 40mm plastic drain hose and have no issues with it backing up or clogging. I use the joinable pool hose from big w or bunnings because I can just put together as many sections as I need for the job.

Dont make the mistake of getting a hose that is smaller than your drain outlet because that will cause backup issues.

I have never liked the idea of the layflat especially where it is a gravity feed and not under pressure.

Caravans plus have smooth bore waste hose in a couple of sizes, don't waste your money on flat waste hose.

From experience, (not in a RV), layflat rubber hoses are not much good without pressure, pushing the water

The larger internal size hose, is always more efficient, than the smaller size hose

My grey water hose is the corrugated outside, and smooth bore inside, you buy it from the caravan/camping shops

It is 25 mm inside bore, as that is the size of all the other internal grey water hoses, and valve size, on my RV

I have never had problems with blockages

But...

I clean the dishes with paper towels, before I wash the dishes, so no solids go down the sink

A friend had one of those flat hoses on a reel - fantastic as far as storage went BUT where it attached to the connectors, it split & was impossible to repair.
Over priced junk!
Conventional sullage hose can be rolled into a smallish bag made from shade cloth (about $20 from caravan parts stores).

Tried the original black convoluted stuff which came with van, it did not last long due to UV degradation.
Bought the u-beaut smooth interior superior quality convoluted stuff, from a show special, lasted a tad longer.
Now have some clear reinforced pressure hose for chemical use from an irrigation supplies shop in Roma to make a new yoke from 2 outlets to one run, HEAPS better, and so have replaced all with same.
Yes a tad heavier, but heaps easier to use and still fits into the three x 6 metre long PVC holders under the length of the van. Very easy run due to smooth inside, connectors are all 1" black poly nuts and tails.

Thanks fellas you have confirmed my preconceived ideas. When and if I finally get to collect van my from NSW I will source the size hose to match the existing plumbing outlets.

40mm pool hose. We have a 10mt and several smaller ones we can join.

Never been a problem using as normal or with washing machine.

Much better than the smaller gauge ones they supply with vans.

I run the hose through them when packing up.
