Would like peoples thoughts on the Sunland range of caravans.Especially their aluminium/steel chassis vans as i notice it brings their tare weights down considerably.Are they any good as an offroad van.Thanks Ian

I did a tour of the factory in Caboolture three years ago and very impressed very road tracks .modern and are one of the leaders in solar and lithium and off grid camping are lightweight with great payload and are a very capable off road as I have seen them on remote off road tracks
I did hear they had problems with sagging roof which will come up in a search

Thanks travelyounger for the info.Unfortunately looks like the Sunland range is not popular as no other takers to offer any advice.Would love any advice on any really good quality offroad brand that could be towed legally and safely with a 4x4 Mazda bt50 with 3500 gvm towing capacity in total.We are hoping to buy something in the next month or so to travel around Australia and mainly free camp,so looking to have lithium power and enough water.

But first legally you will not be able to tow a standard 3.5 tonne caravan with your Mazda or any other car.
You will find it extremely difficult getting any more then 300 kilograms on the towball legally without overloading the car's drive axle.
Most likely a caravan with a gross trailer mass between 2.5 and 3 tonnes is where you should aiming for.
Be seriously careful when the sales people say the caravan has a large payload.
We have 140 litres of water and with a small amount of effect we get 5 days off grid.
Thanks Radar.That's why we considered the Sunland range but unfortunately couldn't get any feedback on them as we have been checking on how much weights we can have and realise we wont get near 3500 kg.We may end up having to consider a motorhome as they would be legal,and i have a truck licence.
A few years ago we looked at a Sunland caravan, we liked what saw but was not ready to buy.
I don't make a habit of pulling peoples caravans apart and the 2 that spring to mind were really good campers to be near.
One did say they were going home to replace there Prado as it was to close to the weight, I think he wanted a new V8 Cruiser and that was his excuse to get one.
The other one well they had been away from home about 6 months in winter down south was going home to have a heater fitted.

They are an impressive van and the 18 6 model from memory is 900 to 1000 kg other good off road vans are lotus Kakadu bush tracker zone jb but the patriot by sun land is hard to go past
