Our cb tripped , I turned off the hws and tried it , no problems then I bought a new element and changed it , turned it on and it tripped again. The wiring is hardwired into the hws so I had to pull the hws out disconnect it and test it again . No problem with the cb now. I totally removed the hws and took it to local caravan centre and left it for them to test it . They called me fri and said theyd checked it and the element was blown I said it was brand new and turned on for a sec . They claim the tank is full on the bottom of whatever yet I flush it with a hose each time I change the annode. Last time was when I took the element out ? Aside from that I thought the element is insulated anyway so even if there was **** in contact with the element . Anyone had similar or thoughts on it. I was thinking an internal wire had shorted ?
With the unit in the hands of a repairer, you are committed to accepting their word, regardless of alternate facts. Just ensure that the fix is warranted for a reasonable period. You should get the newly fitted blown element off the repairer with a view to getting a refund from original supplier (easily achieved if purchased on a Credit Card.

I had a problem with the HWS on 240 V, worked on gas ok, got the element replaced and still the same..............turned out to be the switch was faulty, worth a look.
The toggle switch in the overhead cupboard, next to the gas on/off switch. we used to leave the 240 v switch on the hws in the 'ON' position all the time.
