Ghostly chauffeur.

I was hitchhiking on a dark night in the middle of a thunderstorm. Time passed slowly and no vehicles went by. It was raining so hard I could barely see my hand in front of my face.
Suddenly I saw a car approaching, moving slowly and appearing ghost-like in the rain. It slowly and silently crept towards me and stopped.
I badly needed a ride, and it was going so slow, I decided to jump into the car and close the door.
Only then I realised that there was noone behind the wheel, and no sound of the engine to be heard over the rain!
Again the car crept slowly forward and I was terrified. I was too scared to think of jumping out and running.
I saw that the car was approaching a sharp curve and, still too scared to jump out, I started to pray and beg for my life.
I was certain it was a ghost car and it would go off the road and into the river, and I would surely drown.
But just before the curve, a shadowy figure appeared at the driver's window and a hand reached in and turned the steering wheel, guiding the car safely around the bend. Then, just as silently, the hand disappeared through the window and I was alone again.
Paralysed with fear, I watched the hand reappear every time the car reached a curve. Finally I got so frightened, I couldnt take it anymore and I jumped out of the car and ran through the storm to a nearby village.
Wet and in shock, I went into a warm, lighted pub and with a quavering voice, ordered a double whiskey, and then, shaken, I told everyone about my supernatural experience.
A silence came over those listening and everybody got goose bumps.
They realised I was sober and was telling the truth. And the sounds of the storm continued outside.
About half an hour later, two men walked into the pub and one pointed to me and said to the other,
'Look there James. There's that fool who jumped into our car while we were pushing it in the rain.'
