Avan Aliner/Cruiser with the Adventure Plus pack...


Did anyone here taken the above camper/s on any offroad trip such as the Gibb River Road or similar and came home without any issues?

I have been told that even with the offroad pack, these trailers will come home a bit loose inside.....any opinions?

I recall a recent post similar to this one - have a look back a page or two.

Adventure/Outback packages do not mean "Go anywhere with this van". They are for all roads providing care is taken. Drive according to conditions, reduce tyre pressures accordingly.

Without due care there can be more than the odd screw loose!

We have a 2005 Avan Cruiseliner. ALKO IRS standard axle 

I am also a member of the Avan Club.

The adventure pack has a coil spring Trailing Arm Suspension and more ground clearance.

The Body of the Avan is (as far as I have seen) is no different to the standard unit.

All the bits that come loose in a standard unit will come loose in the Adventure Package unit.

Although I feel the Adventure Pack suspension is a bit softer than the Independent Rubber Suspension of the Alko Axle.

 

Our old van has done most off the roads such as GRR four times , GCR three times, Borroloola Roper Road. Donohue, Plenty, and lots of others over the years.

If you go on any rough road things will come loose in any van if you are not prepared.

Check everything and think "is that going to be a problem over e.g. 600-1200 kilometres of corrugations" .

Even being well PREPARED and things come loose  $h!t happens also to the best of off roaders.

 

I have witnessed  a Kimberley Cub with a broken suspension  heading into  Lawn Hill (on it's Maiden Voyage) luckily under warranty

Other van  with aluminum everywhere, and OFF ROAD  everything,  again a maiden voyage. Cupboards fallen off the wall, Three way fridge came adrift and the condenser unit split and fridge written off. Again under warranty.

I know other Avanners with both Off Road vans and standard jobs like ours who travel on dirt a lot.

Another thing to consider is,  there are a lot of areas of the avan roof that when closed down will let in dust if the Seals are not   up to scratch.

We have our Avan Pressurised when on the dirt for that very reason.

 

Driving sensibly and not Overloading the van also help trememdously. 

If you are not prepared to do the odd on the road bit of maintenance or repair, I would steer away from an Avan.

There are various ways of getting a SLIGHT positive pressure inside a van.

I just use a Bilge Blower Fan drawing in outside air through a dust filter. Think the 100 mm blower puts in about 270  cubic litres a minute.

If you search on the net for PRESSURIZING Caravans  or something similar you will find pictures and articles about this subject.
