Personally, I would never choose a front wheel drive motorhome.
I have seen too many with traction problems due to the relatively light loading on the front drive wheels.
Be aware that the chassis behind the cab is built by someone other than Fiat and many are very light particularly behind the rear wheels and adding a tow bar can be impossible or expensive.
That said they are the most popular vehicle platform because the builders like the flat floor and versatility of being able to build any length they like and they are cheaper than the equivalent rear wheel drive vehicle.
The Iveco (also made by Fiat) would be a better choice, in my view.

Depends on the chassis base...Jayco have been building on the Mercedes Benz full auto..a great vehicle.

They also build on the Fiat Ducato...not quite as good as the Benz but still a very popular choice. You won't go wrong with a Jayco.

Assuming its your first RV. Always consider what type of RVing you want to do before you decide on what unit you buy. I've seen way too many folks buy something they 'thought' would suit only to find out it didn't suit what they wanted to do. ie if you want to keep to the black top and go from campground to campground then buy the floor plan that suits. If you want to bash the dirt back roads make the chassis you priority. Want to camp for a week or more then get a caravan and use the tow to see the sights. Want to move every few days then a simple motorhome will do the job. Want to spend years going around the block then get a bus conversion and tow a 4x4. Get my point. Sort out what you want to do first.

I have just purchased my second motorhome after almost 6 years & 80,000 odd klms in the first. You need to work out what you want to achieve with your motorhome, eg onroad or off road. You then need to consider the best layout to suit your intended use. Then look at availability of vehicles , brands in your price category. Our second motorhome is a very different layout than the first however both suit our needs, so keep an open mind. Both our first and second motorhomes are based on Fiat Ducato. One of the reasons we purchased a new MH based on Ducato was that the first one performed flawlessly over our ownership period.
I have read all the comments surrounding fwd however driven sensibly I have not had any issues. It is interesting that the biggest selling base vehicle for motorhomes in Uk/EU is Ducato. It is also interesting to note MB now offer a fwd cab/chassis. The old carpentry rule of measure twice , cut once applies to selecting a MH be clear in your mind what you want to achieve and the layout to achieve that aim before you buy. It you are still in a grey area rent a couple of different layouts/vehicle types to hell lift the fog. One last suggestion is to seek advice from owners of your vehicle of choice rather than listen to the knockers whom often have never owned the vehicle they criticise. Good luck with your decision.
