           If you take it to a Transmission Specialist you won't have to deal with all the old oil. As a matter of interest, how many Kms has the vehicle done? I had the last year model of the early Colorado's with the Isuzu running gear, and the Trans oil was still fresh at 100,000 Kms. I had an external cooler fitted, and we towed a 2060 Kg tare Van.

You seem practical so go for it. 

I do all our vehicles x 5.

Go to U Tube first up a see if there are a few topics on your vehicle. There they should lay out the gear you need to complete a total change out.

 Have a look at the Project 200 series landcruiser series as a good example.

I did over and over so I could not go wrong. Play it back as many times as you need.

Everything can be brought on evil Bay. The two 5lt jugs costed $52 The same 12V transfer pump $36 @mtr of 10mm hose (Bunnings) $12. These items you get for life.

I do use Penrite LVS Full Synthetic. I buy my oil from Super Cheap when on sale. (Last lot cost me $30 per 4lt bottle. I wait and stock up at these prices.)

It has a 46deg higher boiling point then the standard mineral crap they put in.

If you pump in A Flushing fluid into your Torque converter housing. How in hevens on earth do you get it back out in full....... You cant and from there on it will break down your new fluid from NEW. 

DO NOT DO THIS.

As long as your car is more or less level you will drain ( In my case 3.9lt into the 5lt measured jug) I put back 3.9lts and run it through ALL gears. Then take it for a run.

Drop the oil again for a second time (Me 3.9lt) and go through all gears and take it for a run.

YOU will Get Great SATISFACTION that its done. And Done right and your transmission is 100%

It not ROCKET SIENCE.

Why give Toyo dealers $760 for a crap flush thats going to break down the good oil.

My last Parado had 455,000 km on it when sold. Ran like a swiss clock towing.

My current 200 GX has 147,000km and runs even better.

If you are refering to my reply Re: To Mr Toyo. I am using some of the UTube clips that use a Flushing Fluid first up. Never would I suggest to anyone to use this method, as I did Say.

Toyota likes to milk folks dry if they can.

As the op asked, I have a toyo and used as an example.

I to drain, Refill. Drive it for ten minutes. Then Repeat. Every second year I also drop the pan and wash the filter out, Clean the magnets and reinstall. My Filter is a metal mesh unit.

Yes that would be it. Mine is on the left side in my 200 series. Check to see if you have an overfill plug on the bottom of the pan. Mine has one ,held in place by 5-6mm Allen key head.

It's always better to refill with a bit extra transmission oil, if yours has the same over fill plug. This allows the correct level to be obtained by undoing the plug. If zero comes out, you then would need to add 100-200mm extra.

As I said above, look at U Tube. Have a look at the project 200 series U Tube. The 200 series is a sealed unit. (it does not have a dip stick to check the transmission oil level.

Many of the newer cars, SUV's are the same these days.
