I have A SIMILAR PAIR OF BOOTS BUT UNFORTUNATELY I could not justify the $500 for RMW.
But I bet they are a great product.
Hopefully this is a forerunner for other great Australian Companies to return back home.
I worked for Arnotts Biscuits .. saw Campbells Soup 0f the USA take over the company, Campbells recently placed the company on the market, but I do not know if SOLD and who owns the great Australian Icon now.

Back to the subject:-
Mining magnate Andrew Forrest has brought iconic boot brand RM Williams back to Australian shores after a $190 million acquisition that will see Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman pocket $10 million.
Imagine the technology that goes into a $600 computer, then imagine what goes into the making of a $600 pair of boots. That, in a nutshell, is what is wrong with human society.
In any case, why should anyone care about the brand if the only Australian who can afford the price is the billionaire who bought the company?

There are Australian made and owned boots makers that didn't sell out. Mongrel and Redback come to mind. No idea how they compare in price. If you want a hat try Akubra. I think they are aussie but I stand to be corrected.

Twiggy is really going to town : Exmouth caravan park - Albany Oyster hatchery and waterfront restaurant - RM Williams . Good on him I wish him and his family the very best in these new ventures. His WA based companies our flying high at the present with the price of iron ore .
Nothing wrong with reinvesting, sure its all future profit driven, but as a result they will be employing thousands over here in WA .

I have friends where the wife bought her hubby a pair of RM boots. They ooze quality, one pair lasts for life!
A number of years ago, I paid what I thought was "big bucks" for a set of Aussie made Bundstone boots. I found out later that one had to wear them constantly (in the tropics?).They fell apart in Singapore - the soles shattered but I wasn't aware of the issue until I was about to fly out to England otherwise I may have had them repaired.

I wear Blundstone boots (made in Tasmania) when working in aluminium smelters running 380kA at 1100V so they need to have a high resistivity sole. Even in the tropics of Africa or the extreme heat of the middle east I have never had an issue with them breaking down. There are different model Blundstones maybe there was one that was more suitable for your workplace because in my experience tropical conditions haven't been a problem.. I'm not a big fan of the alternative Australian made Redback that seem to be the standard boot for potlines both here and overseas so I carry my Blundstones with me.. I can't comment on RM Williams because the price that they are asking for their products means that I will probably never buy anything from them to find out what they are like.
G`day,
I wear BAXTER Boots. A very old Australian manufacturer , established in 1850 and still family owned . They are located in Goulburn NSW . Great boots . I have no affiliation with them.
Cheers,
Jontee
