Old and myself had to take on a small road trip this morning to drop off the truck for its GVM upgrade.(At LAST). Soooooo We continued on to Berrima in the go-cart, on the old Hume Hwy South of Sydney.( Traffic yet again, a nightmere. Due to a 3am Truck Smash.)
We were still on the Motor Way/ Hume Hwy heading to Berrama ( taking Old for Brunch) when we came across Bloody Goats, 100's of the bloody things, all over the verg.
Would make a nice Curry.
Not since Cobar NSW have we seen so many in 2019. How they spread. We are talking the BACK Yard of Sydney.They breed like my Father X14 KIDS.
Another 12 months and I can sell the lawn mower. Yes!

A few years ago we came across huge numbers of the things between Marla and Coober Pedy. At one point we stopped for a cuppa and there was a truck full of them at the wayside stop. The driver reckons that there's a quid in rounding them up and taking them to a stockyard and selling them for slaughter. They're feral and do a lot of damage and the landholders will pay to get rid of them.
And they have no road sense whatsoever - even worse than emu's I reckon.

In my experience the last comment regarding goats road sense is totally wrong, they are very aware and will happily graze only metres from the road as you drive past, the instant you lift your foot they are off disappearing into the scrub in a flash. You rarely see one dead as roadkill they are too smart for that.
Yes have to agree with Ok374, I think goats have amazing road sense compared with other animals like Kangaroos/emus etc. We have traveled up through the Broken Hills area for years(tooo many) and you rarely see any dead goats on the side of the road, hundreds on the side feeding, but few if any dead. Plenty of dead roos/emus though. cheers Ian
