My husband bought me the New Wave induction hot plates as seen on TV

I was sceptical when the parcel came as I was not that sure how good they work.

Those negative thoughts soon went by as they are without a doubt the best cooktop I have ever used.

Thi kit comes with two hot plates but you can buy them separately. They are both wattage adjustable which is a necessity for a caravan. The kit also comes with the adapter plate which allows you to use any pot on them. Using the plate is not quite as quick as using the correct pots.

I have a frypan which also came with the kit which is the best thing as cooking is so quick. Eggs of a morning are done perfectly within a very short time.

After using these hotplates for a while my husband then bought me the grill plate.

Well if you want something to cook steak perfectly then you need to use one of these. They recommend searing the both sides of the steak on high temp for a short time and then turn the heat down and cook the meat to your liking.

I use mine for making small batches of tomato sauce, soup etc and we hardly use the hot plates in the van if we are on a site with power. We can use these on our generator and as cooking is quick the generator does not need to run for very long.

Rob says it is quicker to get the generator out of a morning to do both the coffee and cook the breakfast than to have to have instant coffee and smell and heat the van cooking bacon and eggs.

We cook fish and other smellies outside now without the smell permeating the van.

There is also not the heat generated like normal cooking generates in a van.

As you may have guessed, I cannot speak highly enough about them.

And yes there are cheaper units around of which I cannot comment.

I use one frequently in the van. Bought from K-Mart. Does a great job and as I look to cook outside preferably it is not affected by the wind. I think it was about $50. I've had it about 4 years. I've also just bought a cheap saucepan set from K-Mart too and so far these have been great.

I and many others have bought the Aldi one, $49 and works a treat. Compact and east to store.

Our old single hot plate eventually died, read - I broke the bloody knob & SWMBO didn't like my DIY fix.  Mind you, it was only ever used for doing her fantastic corned beef.Another cooker to add to our collection!!!

 Hi Cupie......Like you,finally I have removed my 4 burner gas stove top,and the 9kg gas bottle,as I have never used either.Like you,I have added an induction cooker to my choice of microwave, electric fry pan,air fryer,slow cooker,camp oven,hot plate over a fire,and a grill plate over embers,as well as a 2 plate butane cooker with a hot plate. All these things can be used off-grid,so I think that I've covered the options! The gas stove and bottle now are resident in my shed until I discard them! Cheers
