SMEV Gas hotplate

Hi,

I have a SMEV series 8000 gas hotplate fitted, and of the three rings only one is functioning properly. The other two light OK but will not stay on when I release the knob. Yes, I am doing what the troubleshooting guide tells me to do (hold I in for 20 seconds, etc.) but both will not stay lit.

Can anyone offer advice as to why one should work and two should not with a simple guide to fix it, please? It needs to be simple because I am!!

Thank you.

Welcome to the gang Ian, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Just one of a possible few things,

If your gas regulator on the gas bottles outside has seen many moons it MIGHT be a gas flow problem. I had a problem with gas and found the regulator needed an adjustment to allow more gas through the pipes. Worked a treat. I now have a new regulator on standby for if needed again. I will replace with the newy.

Keep safe out there.

Thank you, sir, for your greeting and reply. Of the three rings on the hotplate one is working perfectly. The other two will light with no problem nor visible gas flow problem. They simply won't stay lit when I release the knobs.

I think Mile Harding's comment ( re Oven) on the Thread below is on the money, Its the Thermocouple.

Make sure it is 2.00am as everyone will be asleep and won't hear it.
