I am looking at doing a 7 -8 day holiday trip from Brisbane to Brisbane in either October/November or February/March 2021 and look forward to suggestions from seasoned travelers who may assist us choose a interesting route.
This holiday is a short break as my wife can only get a short time off from work. We will be traveling with a 31" 5th wheeler.
Being from S.A. we can only suggest odd spots, but feel Jondaryan with the Museum/Caravan Park is a nice spot and or the fabulous Museum at Miles is another. Cheers - Ian

Welcome to a great forum - there is lots of info stashed away in the memory banks. You can access it via the "Search" tab - an "Advanced" search will bring up more info.
You don't say how long you've been in the Brisbane area but there are numerous areas not too far away to explore with a lot depending on your interests - eg Northern NSW (if the borders open), the Granite Belt, Toowoomba, Bundaberg.
We made a policy after our shift to Townsville 30+ years ago that we would explore alternative ways of getting home, seeing places we hadn't seen before - all adding interest to the long kilometres on the trek to/from home. Our family is in Toowoomba, the ACT, Victoria & SA so there is always lots of alternative routes.

Hi Rocket, Thank you for your reply to my post. We have no preference as we are geared up for either however as we are not beach-goers and do not have a great deal of time, would most likely prefer scenic/historic

Thank you Warren. I am truly a Queenslander having transferred here from Melbourne in 1982. I am currently still working but plan to retire at the end of this year as I will be 75.5 years of age. problem is my wife is still too young to retire, so we will do shorter trips until she gets the bug and wants to retire. We have usually taken a month or a little more over the Christmas break and travelled through NSW down to Victoria and sometimes over to Adelaide, and returned via Parkes for the Elvis Festival. We have always experienced very hot weather on these trips so would like to try either side of this period.
For about a week, I'd suggest one of these three -
Sunshine Coast hinterland (Maleny, Kenilworth, Imbil, or behind Gympie). Scenic Rim area (Canungara, Rathdowney, Boonah) Darling Downs/Towoomba area including Warwick and Stanthorpe. These all meet your scenic/historic criteria, are not far from Brisbane so you won't use up too much time travelling, and all have a great variety of camps and caravan parks. There are some great cafes, restaurants and pubs with character in all three areas. In day trips you can cover a wide area from your base camp, and the next day head in a different direction for even more variety. If you haven't already, get a wickicamps or another camping app, and then jump online and look at the areas you may be interested in. Like your schedule, we have done these areas on a limited timeframe, and can't wait to retire to spend some real time there.

I believe this may be something that we can do but have now got assurance from my wife that we can extend to 2 weeks which will allow us to go further and may include Dirranbandi which we did see on the Getaway show on TV. We have visited Warwick as we have brother and sister in law there and have been through Stanthorpe a few times. The Apple and Grape festival is always a fun experience. I just checked my phone and yes, I already have wikicamps so will have to learn how to use it

Looks like you have just about confirmed your trip.
We are heading of from Logan City in September for a couple of weeks bush / free camping, fishing etc. etc.
First stop Bowenville few klms off the Warrego highway east of Dalby. We wish to visit the Jimbour historical homestead / home to the north of Dalby, then to Tara and then to Meandara to Goondiwindi and then back home via ????
