We were out on the back blocks back in 2014 camped at a rather large gravel pit and a brand new wizz-banger pulled in the occupants of which were a Christian family six hours off the plane from Switzerland. It of had the livery of a wicked camper (or more accurately a WC), All taped over with masking tape. It seems they had ordered and paid for a campervan in Switzerland and were horrified when their vehicle was waiting for them at the airport - WC refused to supply another unmarked vehicle or refund several thousands of prepaid dollars - They were left with no option but to take the vehicle, proceed to first $2 (budget) shop and buy enough tape to cover the offensive language.
We had a fantastic night at that first Ozzie Camp for the tourists - Their kids watched "Ice Age" DVD on our external TV, as did a young couple (UK Backpackers) who came in to camp. Sitting around a campfire roasting multi-flavoured marshmallows - In the morning the Swiss handed the child-bride a bottle of very fine wine as a thank you, for our impromptu party.
Sorry to OP for going off track - but that's what we old codgers do at times.

Still remember the first WC we ever saw, some years ago. It was in the Coles car park at Benalla Vic, we'd pulled in couple of spaces away and couldn't believe our eyes! The thing was positively obscene, and we're not prudes by any means. Yes, signs, graphics and what seems generally acceptable have indeed all changed.

We really can't do much about the gratuitous swearers around the place.
We can.
We can express our disapproval of such language being used in public in forums such as this and other situations and unless we do then it will gradually become the norm and the 6pm news with begin with the news reader saying "Today the government f***ed up again" and I don't want that destruction of the language and courtesy to occur.
Additionally; what is the point of swearing unless it has a shock value? "Bloody" is now a commonplace word yet my father would not permit it in our house. Swearing is only useful if it can emphasize to the extreme - otherwise it's just gutter talk.

MH, My dad was the same. He didn't swear ever.. Not acceptable in our house or anywhere else for that matter.
However, if we were to express our disapproval these days we would be subject to all sorts of abuse. (mostly swearing) Guess this is a new era and bad behaviour and disrespect for everything and everyone is OK.

It is a shame that it is becoming just a part of the local conversations. But I also dislike the folks that can't even say "vulnerable".
so I might be grumpier than most.
How about the number of people (not 'amounts' of people) who cannot correctly pronounce 'particularly' or 'regularly'. And that's just the beginning! Cheers
