Just listening to ABC RN, a resident in a Melbourne tower (was well spoken) said we are allowed to meet other residents & use common areas in the tower.

She said herself it seems to defeat the purpose of being in locked down.

Maybe this is a Government Covid experiment with "hopeful" casualties similar to Maralinga, 22,000!

Just being a bit cynical.

I can sympathise with those poor souls locked in those towers. I think I would be screaming about needing fresh air. Hopefully, those living in these places are only there short term.

My thought on why Aust has fared so well compared with other countries. We have a dream (or we did) "A house among the gumtrees...." a bit of space between us and our neighbours. No shared laundrys, hallways, or crowded lifts. These places should only be used as transit housing, office space, hotels for travellers. Not long term housing. Our parents and grandparents had it right.

Of course, there are those of us that who take it even further by roaming the bush and only occasionally come into towns for supplies. Go Nomads!

Two hour plus delay trying to cross the border at Albury this morning. A lot of "not happy Jan" people's.

A man and his family got stopped going from VIC into Corowa today. His wife and kids sent home but he got carted off to the cop shop for questioning.

Dougwe that fellow got more than questioning. He was refused bail and court tomorrow.
Also local news was that there were approx. 5 cars ( no actual number given ) detected at the Albury/Wodonga roadblock,
and all were from Vic hotspot postcodes. Cops turned them around and sent them home.
One wonders how many got through before they started checking. The mind boggles.
My sister lives in a major town on the Newell Hwy and she said there is an endless line of Vic vans and campervans heading north.
Hope for our sake it isn't Grey Nomads being in the selfish attitude group and from those areas.
Think this might go leg up real quick and we'll all be back where we were before in lockdown

Looks like Gladys is getting ready to throw us Albury residents under the Covid bus. Talking about moving the checkpoints to Ettamogah area , 3 km North of Albury outer edge. Also saying that Albury people should not travel North as we " could have been infected by non complying Victorians ". Methinks we are somewhat homoginized, pasturised and buggerized.

Geez Craig1 your getting closer to us by the day. Was actually thinking much the same thing tonight when local news said she possibly could be going to create a border bubble as early as tomorrow. Feel for you and everyone else. Keep safe and try to avoid those Victorians.

I just read a news report that a flight arrived in Sydney from Melbourne last night and against the protocol Jetstar staff allowed the passengers to disembark and clear the gates before the health authorities were in place to do compulsory checks. Apparently 80 passengers were stopped and checked before they could leave the airport unfortunately another 48 had disappeared. Over night the missing passengers were eventually tracked down, 45 of them were cleared, one refused to be checked and 3 have been reported to the police. The end result is that the NSW government has now banned all flights coming from Melbourne from landing until the health authorities are in position to process them. This event has shades of the Ruby Princess all over again.....

I guess she could try and move the checkpoints to towns on the other side of the river but then the Victorians would probably consider it an invasion and declare war on us. All joking aside I wouldnt be too impressed either if it meant that I had to stay in my local area while everyone else in the state was able to move around freely.

It seems to me that closing the Vic/NSW border is unnecessary now that Melbourne is in lockdown, almost all C19 cases in Vic are in Melbourne:

I heard the bigG in NSW was thinking of moving the the check point further to the North of Albury and around Timbertop area which is just on the northern edge of Albury. Not sure of the rest of the border though.

I hope that bloke over in the U S of A does't get to have a say cos we will end up with a wall.

Keep Safe out there.

I don't see the Victorian teenager on the list who arrived on the NSW South Coast for a family holiday. They tested as negative in Victoria then were contacted in Merimbula and told the testing had been incorrect. The family is now in isolation in NSW and the authorities are tracing the 80 odd people who happened to be at the Tathra Hotel at the same time as they were. They had not travelled from any of the so called hotspots I hope that it wasn't spread and that the young guy recovers quickly.

The NSW Police Commissioner is due into Albury today for discussions. But also is reported that (no longer our) Glad will move the Border to Wagga Wagga. This will truly fulfill the old saying. N.S.W. Means not South of Wagga Wagga. Or South Coast resident, Not South of Woolongong!

Doug, that is Tabletop, beside Ettamogah, Timbertop was were Bonnie Big Ears went to school for a short while.

Might start a secession movement for Us and Wodonga, neither current Premier gives a rat's a... about us. Call us Tim Fischer Province and have a steam train as our National Symbol.

Craig, you win the prize mate. You noticed I deliberately said Timbertop and not Tabletop. I did that to see if you were alert. Nice little stopover at Ettamogah Pub.

I think Doug was the head prefect there when Lord Lugs came for his visit. If memory serves me correctly, our Doug showed Lord Lugs how to construct a WDH in metal work class.

One of the many young ladies. My long blond hair those days attracted them in masses. I also showed the good prince how to surf.

Feel for you Craig and all others in the same boat but with people living on one side and working on the other leaves her little option.

And the excuse he gave in court today was he didn't think this Covid 19 was real.  MMmmmmm    Re-appears in court again in July
