Checking in

Hi, Im new to these forums but love reading all the updates on the website! Im a full timer, solo traveller (unless you count my co-pilot dog!) and my rolling home is a 15-foot 1968 vintage Viscount caravan. Ive been cruising up and down, across and all around QLD, SA, VIC and NSW several over the past year and was all set to finally do WA & NT and complete my lap when Covid restrictions put a whopping great spanned in those plans. After being isolated out west in QLD Im thrilled to be back on the road again and am currently heading south on the Newell. One of my favourite things about being a caravanner is getting (and giving) that little raiding of the fingers from the steering wheel to other caravanners on the road. Its like that secret handshake that says youre part of an awesome club of people that really know what living is! It never fails to bring a smile to my dial. If you dont salute me back I get equally miffed.

Hi Lisa Wanderess

May I be one of the first to welcome you to the forum

I had a caravan similar to yours, I made it self contained by carrying a pop up shower tent, for ablutions

I also managed to do the lap, without relying on caravan parks, or 240 volt power

Welcome to the gang Lisa, enjoy here and out in the playground.

CV19 also changed my plans of heading to sunny and warm down town Townsville but instead find myself in cold and damp North East VIC. I could think of much worse places though as I actually love this area. I will stay put for now until things settle more. I am not a big fan of tidal waves and we may yet get a CV19 second wave that has potential to be a tidal wave.

I also give that 'Little wave' as I pass other travellers.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

@Tony Bev - I do have one of those outdoor shower tents and solar shower plus a porta potty but dont much fancy using the outdoor shower in winter in Victoria and was told that doesnt count as fully self contained but thankfully (for now at least) those rules have changed and as of today non self-contained caravans can stay in Victorian camping grounds. Crossing the border tomorrow into what has since my journey southward now been declared a Covid hot spot by QLD so theres no turning back now! Not that I intended to until at least September anyway... Wish me luck!

OK, Lisa Wanderess, I wish you luck

I was unaware that a pop up shower tent, was not classed as being self contained

I do recall, that when it was very windy, I did not put up the pop top of the caravan, or the pop up shower tent
I just had a basin sponge bath, inside the caravan
