Hi everyone, have been thinking to change the curtains. does anyone have draw down blinds that r not builtin to the van. Was wondering how well they work and how effective they are at keeping out the cold. In another van we had we tried a few venetians in kitchen and they looked great and modernised the look But not sure about the bedroom above our heads As that stayed curtains. Appreciate your input positive or negative.
I have those silly blinds that go up for privacy and down for insect screen in the aluminium teepee. Hate 'em. So. I got some good quality material with a blockout backing, cut them to size and my daughter sewed them up for me. I then fitted them and used stretchy wire. Now, live 'em. The originals just stay open.
Smoke from the fire on the floor in middle doesn't effect them cos I changed to modern fitted gas heating.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Hi dougwe, its all good. Up and tentatively walking with crutchs now. Things are looking up. So glad you changed to the modern fitted gas heating. The other was a bit of a worry. how r u going after your fall? take care . Rocket n strop
Recently bought a new van (2nd hand) that has venetians fitted. Look good but hate them. They collect dust, they rattle, I keep bumping the ones over the bed every time I roll over! I'm looking at replacing them with curtains.
I have those brown numbers with the rubber backing and they are starting to look a little bit tired.
I have tried everywhere but it seems no one makes replacements for these type of curtains.
As they came standard in most vans up to a few years ago I thought that they would be easily replaced as they are all standard sizes.
It seems unless you want the blind types you have to find someone to make some. I understand Spotlight does it in some stores but seems a bit stupid that the original suppliers do not continue to make replacements for their product.
Our 20yo ones have a set of lace draw curtains behind them that can be closed to give some daytime privacy but still enable a view while letting in light. A couple of those have torn, deteriorated from sunlight perhaps, so I made up replacements on my beaut $99 singer sewing machine. A not very professional job (have you ever tried sewing lace), but quite functional.
I have seen a couple of DIY roller blinds fitted to vans but they just didn't make the grade for me so we stuck with the block out + lace curtains.
