Hi I am now in a position to become a Gray Nomad I hope.

I am 66yr old widower - I have travelled a fair bit - RAAF and many holidays staying mainly in motels and a few camp grounds - 

As a young man I also hitched hike quite a bit between States.

For the last 20 yrs I have been taking care of my wife who died a year ago from Alzheimers. I live in in a retirement village (independent living unit Anglicare)

This is attached to a aged care facility (nursing home). my Mother lives their and is very frail. On her passing i intend to sell up buy a van and follow a long held dream.

So it might be too early to join this sit - but now I am looking for a relatively  cheap van to muck around with. So I have made 2 posts to get advice on 2 possible vans. unfortunately I was accused of being fraud. Which I did not appreciate. Thus this post. I will rejoin when i have a van, and seek advice else where till then.

Welcome to this forum if you are still reading it. Sorry if you feel upset. However a forum is a bit like having a chat in the pub. Some regulars have been coming for a while, some come occasionally but you need to get to know the others and have a two way conversation.biggrin

That's why we come on here too. But new people come on and sometimes demand instant answers ?? Would you do that first time in the pub. No way. You would chat a little and find the people who might be amusing or know something or be helpful or even the ones to keep clear off. Same here. And some punters are a bit suspicious when new people look like they come with an agenda. Happens all the time.disbelief 

But my advice is chill out a bit and do not take offence easily. It is a public forum and so anybody can join and can say whatever they want within the rules. If that does not suit you then sorry, a forum may not be for you.

Sorry to hear about your wife

I can only go on my own experience, when I purchased a caravan, and later on a motorhome, as per my Avatar

I spent six months looking for the caravan, and then years later, another six months looking for the motorhome

I actually enjoyed looking, and saw many weird, and some many good rigs out there

If you are still reading, or have come back to this forum

I can only say, in each case, I ended up picking the RV which ticked the most boxes

Hope that you find a van to suit your situation

Welcome to the gang Michael, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I have been around for many moons now and have seen many newbies ask in their very first post questions that could very easily be a dealer etc or even a troll. It has happened many times, some more obvious than others. The real obvious ones don't last long as 'Webmaster' is on the job.

As has been said, try not to let it get to you and slow your questions down a tad maybe. Join in with others posts and contribute. Make sure your questions go in the appropriate section of the forum though as it makes it easier for others that follow to find down the track.

Hi

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. it is appreciated. Perhaps I was a bit thin skinned - I will do better. 

About the rigs (this is so new to me ) I didn't want to buy a lemon but also didn't want to miss a bargain! - andI started on the 

forum too hot. I guess that buying a rig is like all other endeavours - "if it sounds too good to be true ...."
