Asking for help to get good price for rego in nsw of motorhome may 2020

I was wondering if anyone can advise on the best insurers for green slip  in NSW FOR  a winnebago 1998 4.78 t  6 tonne GVM   i know that all the states charge the standard fee of $607  for the transport dept rego fee and then the states charge for the green slip,I JUST BOUGHT IT FROM QLD AND THE REGO INC GREEN SLIP WAS $1050   but im getting a feeling i will be stung in nsw  .i was going to keep it in QLD rego  put in my mates name  on rego papers  at his address in goldcoast  i would still be the owner and he could use it too

Keep it in your name, it will save an argument later on - if it already has Qld rego keep it there and have all correspondence delivered to email - just use your mate's address for a garaging address.

Hi DIG1963smile

My suggestion is to go to the RMS sponsered site;  https://www.greenslips.nsw.gov.au/  , feed in your details and see what the prices are. You might be surprised. Some give a serious discount for zero points loss also.  Pensioners etc may be cheaper.  You then go to the best one and get a real quote and if it does not match the other one, move to the next lowest one for a real quote. Works for me !aww

A word of warning against doing a google search for this information. There are quite a few lookalike sites that will come up before the gov site. These are biased and the insurers pay to come up first (that may be a surprise to some hmm) so just go to the site above direct. No middle men with their hand out.

Brian, why not make 5 phone calls, talk direct to the insurers, and get the exact figure for your vehicle.

I am not from NSW and dont have to have green slips here in SA, so not aware if this creates problems, but seems best way to me. Plus youll have your answer within an hour or so.

Hi Brian smile

From that site Frank put up.You just need to ring and ask for a quote. You do not have to proceed even if the salesperson pressures you. I always ask for a written email quote.

Five companies offer CTP green slips. In alphabetical order they are:

AAMI 13 22 44 26

Allianz 13 1000 32

GIO 13 10 10 31

NRMA Insurance 132 132 34

QBE 133 723 36

It is some years since we had a MH that was over 4.5 ton, about 4.8/6, but at the time it was a cheaper greenslip than the car we were drivingconfuse. And

we did get a discount too as the wife had no booking for years. Sorry but I forget which company that was. But half and hour on the phone will tell you what you want to know.disbelief
