We use a Winegard HV with a booster www.caravansplus.com.au/winegard-freevision-hv-antenna-complete-kit-p-12298.html There a very few areas that we cannot get reception of a couple of channels. We also carry a hard drive full of movies and TV series.
The main difficulty we have is; getting a good reception on our digital radio, particularly for AM ABC stations - yet my (Nissan) car radio seems to get reception.

We have a Saturn antenna made in Qld and the advantage I find with it is that it handles VHF/UHF horizontal & Vertical and has 34dB amplifier built in. I have used it on 2 vans now and it just takes the place of the winegard that came with the van.
There are places where TV signal is difficult to capture so I have a VAST satellite system for those places
Happy with our set up.

A few Land Rover owners have built their own aerials for the car. Also maybe worth noting is that to get a better signal they are using 4 aerials & 4 amplifiers.
'So it would appear my homemade aerials are pretty effective if not very attractive but as you will not see them I'm not really too worried about the cosmetic appearance rather their effectiveness. The 2 D-pillar aerials will live behind the d-pillars held in place with 3m VHB double sided tape. The two remaining aerials are in behind the bumper under each rear tail light where there is an abundance of space.'

So you go to beautiful isolated remote sites to get away from everything and everyone, then want to be able to watch TV.
All I can say is WHY!
If you are in that much need to watch TV, stay on the east coast.
Or is it a case of 5 minutes before happy hour finishes (1755hrs), you disappear into your van, just in time for the crap commercial news, and emerge again at 0830hrs in the morning?
we use a happy wanderer figure 8 style it works for us real well ..........if your TV is getting on in years a new one is worth the effort as the new ones pick up better
Well done 'Sarco'..., some people like to watch TV etc..., usually when it's raining(or heaven forbid) nightime outside ! Fortunately in the 'real' world, different people are free to make different choices !
