trumar saphire a/con remote control

Hello all,

Just joined the Grey Nomads Journal.

Recently took our Jayco Freedom out of storage and silly me left the batteries in the remote for the Trumar Saphire A/con

Of course corrosion occured, and i cleaned it out ,the terminals looked ok.

New batteries fitted ,the remote fired up to a point but will not activate the unit .

A new remote is quite expensive so my question is ...has anyone had this problem and can the remote be repaired ?

Thanks ....Murph

Murph, you may want to test your remote with a smartphone.
Switch the camera on and point to the top end of the remote.
Press some buttons in turn.
If you see the IR Led light then its working, if not then find a TV tech or the like to check it out.

The Truma Saphir remote has to be paired with the unit. Maybe it lost the pairing when the batteries died. Have you tried re-pairing it?

From the operating manual:-

- Insert batteries (pay attention to polarity)

- Setup symbol flashes (if symbol does not flash, perform Reset)

- Point remote control at IR receiver

- Press Setup button and hold down

- When red LED in IR receiver flashes, release Setup button

A replacement is very expensive so i was wondering if anyone has replaced theirs and if so wheres the source or maybe someone has one they no longer need that i could buy .
Thanks ...Murph
