Getting supplies

I just received an email from Woolworth's. They make up food pack of assorted stuff and send it via oz post. $80-00 single person two week supply.

Completely food you would probably never buy but they are making an effort and it will suit some folks in the short term. Some beggars can't be choosers.

Not a lot on there which we would eat, no wonder Australia has a diabetes problem!

Neighbours were waiting for a food/supplies delivery, I don't know who from, but they were told use gloves to unpack everything & disinfect all bags where possible or put ingredients into their own containers & dispose all the packaging.

Nothing much in that pack that we would buy by choice but they aught to be congratulated for making the effort.  Perhaps a bit further down the track we may be thankful to get one of these boxes.

(edit 2) Might even be a good idea to get one & put it away in the pantry just in case.

edit 1 .. Their list includes Flour & Pasta ... none of those on the local shelves.

We have started to assemble a 'list' on the WW on line shopping app just in case we decide to go that way.   It seems that you can select one of your lists & modify it if you want & away you go.  Might be worth a try.  We are already registered as Priority because of our age.

I went solo today to do our usual week's shop at the local WW.  The place was almost deserted, but the shelves were pretty full .. plenty of meat including sausages, mince & chicken.  They have been in short supply recently; lots of toilet paper; but little or no pasta, flour or long life milk.  We didn't want any of these anyway.  I even got some hand sanitizer but forgot to ask about masks.  Got some rocket seeds too, although no luck with silver beet.  This is the time of year that I put in some Winter greens.  Bit of a PITA having to pack my own bags but if that's all I've got to grumble about then we're doing well.  It seems like WW have got their supply chains working again.

All in all everything's fine, the kids all still have jobs for now, we don't know anyone who has the virus and the Govt's first payment has landed along with a few share dividends.   We are spending significantly less since the 'isolation phase' which has got to be a good thing I suppose, but I am drinking more & putting on weight.  Time for some self discipline.   After I get some wet groceries from Dan's that is.

Our local Aldi is almost back to normal with supplies now. I did the weekly shopping today and managed to get everything, except lite milk. Doctor's recommendation is lite, but I prefer full cream anyway. It might shorten my life, but you have to pay for small pleasures somehow...

The Woolies pack barely contains anything I buy - mostly fresh fruit and vegies. I have no idea what I would do with 1kg sugar, other than feed it to ants!

We have been to Coles, today and once last week. Shops that would normally cost $70, now at $100. "savings on todays docket $4 " . I could some weeks have a savings of $40.00 prior to the big panic buying. No catalogues from anyone associated with groceries.
