Caravaning during this period

We are requested NOT to travel.
Travel is the way the virus is spread to other areas and country areas simply do not have the ability to respond to any outbreak, so STAY HOME where the resources are available.
If people do not do the right thing and cease ALL non essential travel. the government will bring in stage 3 of the measures prepared to control the virus and stage 3 is promised to be MUCH more draconian than what we have seen so far.

I suppose if you can disappear for 6 months. Maybe watch out for snakes, twisted ankles etc. I once fractured 4 ribs from only 20cm off the ground photographing flowers in the middle of Australia! Accidents happen. Doctors will be more overworked or will be dead!

We are being told to stay home. Many small communities are closing down to tourist as they do not have the resources to look after you if you get sick. WA is shutting down the State so that travel will be banned. Be responsible and stay at home!!

Not sure where you are Branchie

But if you are in WA, then you may find it hard to travel

Firstly the Western Australian Government, is fair dinkum, about stopping unauthorised traffic, if they have to

Also listening to friends (by phone), in small WA rural area towns, their local (usual single) shops, are no longer keen to sell to non local people, to keep faith with the local population

I live in a small, rural town. Although I understand that there are people who would like to isolate themselves in a small town right now, the problem is, as has been mentioned, the Supermarkets & Hospitals in these towns don't have the supplies or the equipment required to look after the locals, let alone any more travelers. There is also a bigger risk of spread if people continue to move around. I can't understand why they are still letting overseas flights in. My concern is for those Grey Nomads who live in their vans, full time, where do they go?? Not the best idea to congregate in large numbers anywhere.

I live in my caravan. I no longer own a house.

Currently I am camped in State Forest (Vic) in the middle of nowhere.

Forcing me to "move on" would be senseless: to where would I move? arresting me would be senseless: where would I be imprisoned.

Far better to exercise common sense in these times. However I suspect that may be a wishful dream....

We live in our van, and are in CQ at the moment, tomorrow we will make the mad dash to the Whitsundays to complete our northern run, it looks as though caravan parks in queensland will be prevented from taking casual travellers, they will only be allowed to take permanents and travellers with no home, there is even a question over people staying in cabins. The CP owner was told there will be a $13,000 fine for them if they take unauthorized travellers, it is expected to occur early next week.

I believe all camping has been banned from all camp sites in Victoria since midnight Wednesday 25/3/2020.

I live in a regional area. Currently all national and state parks have been cleared of people, and caravan parks have closed signs out. Only exemption is if they are permanent residents. Otherwise everyone is to go home and stay there.

Lucky we have a block of land at Camperdown and we are 3 weeks from building our house. So we have gone there, no house to live in currently. If council try to evict me Ill go to court, however one can stay on your own property for 60 days in a van. Within 2 weeks well have our building permit anyway, Tony

No we are not. This is a silly statement and is causing lots of problems for a lot of people. Do you know there are full time nomads being harassed, bullied and threatened? By fellow Australians.

We only started living in our van full time days before this all started. Our timing was dreadful BUT until they started closing all the parks down we were very isolated with the only people we were near being the grocer who also sold the diesel. We were clear, he was clear. We were all safe.

Then we had to move and so thinking it would be safer we went into a Big 4. After a few days there they closed that park and moved us to a sister park where we hope to sit this out - however the rumour on the site last night (10 or so vans and a tent) was that this park is closing too. So, from almost total isolation to self isolation in a park to? We have no idea. Park on the side of the road and wait for the police to move us on daily?

as far as cruise ships go nobody wants them coming in to port as they where a risk.
now any body moving around is a risk, so no body wants any strangers rocking up, they have no idea where you have been or who you have been in contact with.
it will only get worse, nomads of any description are the new lepers of old we will just have to do the best you can were ever you are.
